FatnLow,
I was going to start a thread because I didn't want too highjack Sammons thread.  We have about 17" so far.  Towns just east of us here in New Hampshire (towards the coast) have up to 25".  Got the day off from work as most places are closed today.  It's 18° here.  Here's a couple of pics.  Guess what kind of car my wife drives ;D (picture was taken earlier today)

Tom ...If we had that much snow here we would be immobilized ,this part of the country is not set up for any  large amount of snow fall.  Even with the small amount we do get, people act like fools ,over driving the conditions and running off the roads.
Stay warm and enjoy the event with the snow mobile....... ;D
Thought that was a snow mobile  any  looks like your out in the snow taking care of business
...way too much snow for me....

I wish we had that much in the Sierras. It is going to be a long smoky summer if we don't get something. We had to drive up to Tahoe this morning and it was snowing a little but they need a lot on top. Be safe back there, sit back and enjoy it. It will melt someday. :o

Most times it would be great if the weather people would just look out the window to see what they are tell you isn't what's really happening outside . Weather is now refered to as a weather event ?

When the North winds blow ,they blow the trade winds further out to sea that is what happened it does not allow the trade winds coming up the eastern sea board to come inland ,and blows whatever is in it out to sea  It came aboard somewhere north of New York City. If the North trough had not done this New York city would have gotten pounded and some of you guys on the easter sea board would be still buried in the white stuff. That storm that missed you guys sort of started in Texas came across the gulf of Mexico and hit the northern part of Florida before going out to sea. Then when it was about to come inland ,It ran head long into the northern wind through that went that far south  500 miles south of us

Well we finally got some snow here nothing like some of you have gotten, but what's funny is the panic the news can cause when reporting. Oh were gonna get a foot or more, and everyone starts to panic and mobbs the grocery stores. I went to the store friday night, and what a joke. There were people clearing the shelves like there would be no tomorrow. I wonder what some of them would do if they lived back east.

Ain't that the truth! I only pay attention when it blows up from the south west, that's when we get the Deep stuff. Snow got here late last night. They are saying 6-9" by morn. They are usually wrong. 15° here, horizontal snow, 30mph wind. Glad I don't have to go out anyway.  ;)  Gonna be dang hard on my trees, they are all ready budding out from the nice false spring weather we were having. :-\

I don't know how much we got, it all got blown down to Oklahoma. About 1" on the flat with some 2-3 foot north/south long drifts that look like sand dunes. Supposed to get more during the next two weeks.

1st pic sunday, you can see snow blowing down at the dumpster. Camera doesn't catch the rest blowing horizontally south.

....  Oklahoma got snow Monday  about 3.5 inches where we live...We live at a Lake community , with a lot of hills went to  town Monday to run some errands it was not snowing when we left  by the time  we got to town the snow was  starting to stick to the roads. Did our errands and started to head to the house ,there is a lot of hills around here and  people started to go crazy running  off the roads and spinning out. Normally  it's a 25 minute drive from the house to town it took us about an hour and 10 minutes to get home.  We didn't have any trouble but the main thing was all the other people over driving the conditions. Some of people here couldn't stand a chance if they had weather like the NE has

Wow ghost, I can see why the snow was sideways! It came through here last night on an ESE direction. Missed me by 30 miles north, but Wichita caught it. 68 to 89 mph straight line winds and hail. Lots of damage around there.

Well Tom, spring is definitely here. At least you won't have to deal with these nasty critters yet. One of my buddies fellow co workers got home to this rattler at his back door this afternoon. He said he was glad he beat the wife and kids home!

Well the good news is no snow today..The bad news is we had freezing rain last night and everything is covered with a sheet of ice. I was going to prune my crab-apple tree today but I'd have to attack it with an ice pick first. It's suppose to warm up for the weekend but I've heard that story before. ;)

Holy crap, Sammons!! I would have pooped my pants!! :o Do you kill that thing or just chace it away? Nothing like that in my neck of the woods.
Rainy and cold all week, getting warm and sunny starting Friday through the weekend :)

Chopper, in populated areas around here they are killed. Their heads are cut off and buried. Out in the country they are usually left alone especially around varment areas (prairie dog towns etc., unless they venture into the farm house areas. The canyon areas to the south of us are full of them nasty things. I use to take my weed eater with me checking out old cars. Weed eat up to and all around them first, then proceeded with caution. They like it in the shade when its hot out (under and in the cars). :o

Sammons,
I'm not a big fan of snakes! You can keep them down your way.  The worst we get is a skunk hanging out near the house.  Not a big fan of those either :)

We have several springs on our property. In the desert where there is water there are rodents and where there are rodents there are snakes. Fortunately the Great Basin variety is not as large or aggressive as some of the others. Even so both of my dogs were bitten last year, one of them twice. I have killed dozens over the years around the house and yard, two in my shop. You have to pay attention. There are lots of funny stories, well they are funny now. ::)

Here's what my backyard looked like yesterday and this morning - again!...38 degrees during the night and snowing?...by 2pm the snow is gone as the temps near 50 degrees?  Weird Winter...

Have a batch of Juneberries arriving next week for planting.

Mowed today for the first time this year and killed my first snake of the year while mowing. They seem to be out early.

Haven't seen any snakes yet, but I always do.  My property backs up to the marsh and there is a lot of them out there.  I am like Sammons and not a big fan, I don't go outside without looking hard.  It  has been in the 80s here and unfortunately they enjoy it to.

OK, who sent the snow down my way?
Its supposed to be Autumn, or I think you guys call it Fall, but anyways, it didn't happen.
No nice transition into Winter, just went from Summer, to cold. Snow down South, which is why the airs so cold.
Had to happen, but this quick?
You guys enjoy the Summer, post lots of pics, from sunny cars shows, I'll dig my thermal undies out, and somehow, I'll manage to get through it.  :D
Lucky i have a big ol fire place to keep me warm, heres a pic from my back door.

That rainbow looks awesome. I woke up this morning to snow on all the house roofs, and cars around here. Good thing I powered up the sprinklers.
