Title: Don't be afraid to say Ford or Mopar!
Post by: EDNY on January 04, 2013, 02:34:58 PM
Was checking out the HAMB and whenever someone asks why they build a Ford vs Chevy vs Mopar..the opinions came flying in.  Just seems human nature to concentrate on what makes us different vs what makes us the same :'(

Really ironic is that when the crap hits the fan...we all stick together.

Don't know how many times I heard that I was driving a great looking Ford.  Hate to break the news but it's a 34 Chevy :D folks!

If it's built right, looks good, runs good and drives good who cares what the logo says.A lot of guys are very brand conscious and look down on anything that deviates from what the consider to be a "Real Hot Rod"  but I tend to be more impressed with the craftsmanship and innovation that goes into the build than what it started out life as.I have built and owned a number of different brands including Fords and Mopar but that being said , I still have a soft spot for Chevy's. As you said Ed....Most people who aren't really familiar with cars think that all old cars are Fords. When I tell them its a Chevy you can see their face light up.Bottom line any hot rod is a blast to own and drive.

I have no problem driving any old classic and have no problem mixing up parts either.

My 33 Chevy has a Mustang II front end and 33 Ford taillight horns to hold my 55 Chevy truck taillights!

Guess my car is somewhat "inter-RACE-ial" ;D

Ive always thought of mysele, as a car, or hot rod guy. Ive also, imho, thought that those who are fiercly loyal to one brand only, are missing out. Ive owned as many cars, as ive spent in years alive. Lots of diffrent brands.

I prefer GM vehicles but I like looking at anything cool when I go to a show.  I like to hear the stories that go along with every one of them.

I was a total Ford guy. I had several '38-'40 Coupes, sedans and woodies. Even a '40 Sedan Delivery. Then I bought a '48 Chevy Fleetline for $55. It started every time. The windows rolled up and down, the doors stayed closed, the heater and radio worked. I became a convert. The only Ford I own now is a tractor because GM didn't make any. ;D I'm building my '26 Chevy Roadster with no Ford parts just because I can. I do have Studebaker, Dodge, Buick and Willys pieces. But I am looking into a new Ford and there is another pile of parts that will someday be a Model T based modified with a flathead and almost all Ford stuff. I like hot rods and sometimes I am pleasantly surprised to recognize rods that were not Fords. There was a lot of that in the dry lakes era. What ever turns your crank. 8)

Well Okay, what you all say is pretty much all right with me.

But you DO realize that Ford is a four letter word, don't you?  :)
