Interior idea...ok crazy idea.
« on: November 30, 2014, 08:32:14 PM »
The interior of some of the old chevys is a bit sparse or plain.  It seems that most people add newer seats and custom interior work to liven the inside up.

This is just a crazy idea.  What if you took hood ornaments from the time and used them as handles or interior decorations?  I'm thinking of the 1934 hood ornament with heavy wings and art deco look.  Here is one of the potential looks thanks to photoshop.  What do you think?  Crazy idea?

If you need more ideas check out the book:  Motoring Mascots of the World by William C. Williams

I have it and just went to ebay - they aren't giving these books away:

Looks nice and a great idea - I love stuff thats a little (or a lot!) outside the box. And especially if you make it or modify it to work yourself, it's always tons better than anything you buy out of a catalog.

You guys surprised me.  I thought there would be more scoffing at the idea. (maybe they aren't commenting)

Ed, that book is $250 bucks!  Out of my price league but it looks like its got some amazing "Motoring mascots".  Since I've started looking into the cars of the 1930s, hood ornaments are becoming an obsession.  The older cars have so much personality...style.

Radio mounting would be a problem with this idea.  I usually use my ipod or iphone for music so I would need a charger and speaker setup.

OK, I'll be the first...."It looks like crap, how dare you!!"
Nah, just kidding, I think it's a good idea, it looks good. It makes the dash your own, unique. 8)
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn
