Title: My old 27 chevy
Post by: ghost28 on February 25, 2013, 08:23:58 PM
The guy that bought my 27 delivery stopped by the other day to show me the new upholstery. He is having a blast with the car, and even drove it home in a snow storm from the upholstery shop. He was not to happy about the clean up afterwards though.  The front buckets are scheduled for the next couple of weeks.....Have a look.

That interior looks really good. If you didn't have another great project going on it might have put some tears in your eyes :-*

Yeah nice work on the interior.  Glad he's enjoying it as much as you're enjoying your new project!

Can't wait to get to the upholstery stage. I do have a real nice Juki LU563 walking foot sewing machine that I enjoy working with. No expert...but do look forward to doing some basic upholstery.  Those pictures have my blood moving again.

(Might need an upholstery category in the future?)

Yeah I did the upholsery on a 65 chevy ss quite a few years ago. I did ok, but I knew that I would have to get better or give it up. I probably should have stayed with it.  I might give it another try on the buick just for grins....John

You should stick with it. You will learn from your mistakes.

Scott stopped by today and we were trying to get his side glass working on the 27 delivery %#!@* those old mechanisms are not what I remember. We discussed it and an electric unit with a stock handle mechanism to raise it up or down looks promising and this way it will apear to look stock. I did get some pictures of his progress with the car. He opted fpr some nice mags, different tires, along with the stock headlight addition, and the rear bumpers. I told  him I left enough undone he could make it his own and he is.

 Nice job scotty

Scott and I decided we didn't like the station wagon style rear door on his 27, it's too hard to get in and out. So I am gonna make it a more traditional style for him I  am using the bottom set of hinges with new pins. So far so good. The top and bottom of the door is welded back together as one unit, and the hinges are installed. I popped it open and it looks like it's gonna work. I think this will increase the value of having a true style sedan delivery rather than a station wagon style retro.
