Weather
« on: May 07, 2015, 09:31:59 AM »
I haven't seen much sun in over a week.  I like the springtime mild temps and a bit of rain, but i'm as sick of these darned severe storm watches this year as you guy's are of the snow that you guy's up NE had. :-\   The last several years here have been mild at least, but this one?  We are really under the gun on Saturday.  Maybe I'll be glad I haven't moved the coupe to the shop yet! (home garage well built) ;)

Nothing "severe" here but I did wake up with 2" of snow this morning. We have been replacing some water tanks, cleaning out the pond and trimming trees in preparation for what is feared to be a bad fire season. It's been T shirt weather all week but snowing as I write this.  ???

Woke up to a storm this morning, it was raining hard and wind was also blowing very hard,  at 8:00 a.m. checked the rain gauge and it registered  1 3/4 inches. We are expecting more this after noon, and thru the weekend. With all this rain the Lake levels around here should rise.

I hope all you guys in the heartland stay safe.  For a change we've had mid 70's and sunny for the past week.  A little dry though but perfect cruising weather.  Sorry about sending the snow your way Sixball :D

We are still in a drought for now, but I can sure do with out the tornados. At least the season around here is just may/june. When my brother and I built my house in '02, (he's a contactor in Calif) he built it to Calif code w/ hurricane ties and earth quake straps, 2x6 construction and basement. I felt pretty good about it till '07 with the Greensburg tornado (19 miles east). One never thinks of a Chevy Suburban being thrown on or through your house. That was some scary stuff!

I had all the twisters I wanted as a kid in Texas and Tom don't fret about sending the snow we could use a lot more.

I know, I know exactly what you guys sre talking about. I had my roof replaced about 2 weeks ago, and they stripped all my gutters off at that time, and then the rain came down. I felt like I was living in a grass hut with all the rain flowing off my roof on all the edges. They just preplaced the gutters yesterday and now the sun is shining, but it's supposed to rain the rest of the week with snow moving in on Sunday. I want to shoot some primer.  :'(  Thanks for letting me vent.
The lawn looks great though.

Setting up for a heck of a day all over. Munch has tropical/hurricane type, Ghost may get snow, FATnLOW and I are in the possible tornado zone. It's 9:00 am here, and it's twilight like out side, really dark.

Y'all take care out there. I'll be sticking close to the basement today!  ;D

Been raining off and on all day, with lighting and thunder, severe storms and flooding in the low lying areas, had about 7.5 inches of rain last 40 hrs or so...and more to come.....good thing I live on a hill  no chance of me getting flooded...Sammons looks like maybe 2 or 3 days of this stuff at last report I seen.. at least no tornados close to me  .I've had a belly full of this. At least the Lake below me is getting it's share to fill back up if they don't have the gates open.

I went out three times during the night to knock the snow down from my canopys, and the trees. Some of the trees were broken. I sure hope this is the end of this stuff for awhile. We got about nine inches of the heavy stuff. How did you guys fair?

First round came late morning,  nothing but much needed rain. Second round came around 8:00pm, several rounds of rain, some pea size hail. We didn't even get the wind here, a small tornado about 50miles SW of us at 9:00, then another 50 NW about 10:00. I think they both were out in the country. Now we are clear till maybe next Wednesday or Thursday. (I did carry my hand built hood and trunk lid down stairs just in case ;) )

Ghost I was watching all the nasty stuff going on around the springs, then they would pan up to the Denver area snow. Crazy!
