Title: Weather
Post by: sammons on May 07, 2015, 09:31:59 AM
I haven't seen much sun in over a week.  I like the springtime mild temps and a bit of rain, but i'm as sick of these darned severe storm watches this year as you guy's are of the snow that you guy's up NE had. :-\   The last several years here have been mild at least, but this one?  We are really under the gun on Saturday.  Maybe I'll be glad I haven't moved the coupe to the shop yet! (home garage well built) ;)

Nothing "severe" here but I did wake up with 2" of snow this morning. We have been replacing some water tanks, cleaning out the pond and trimming trees in preparation for what is feared to be a bad fire season. It's been T shirt weather all week but snowing as I write this.  ???

Woke up to a storm this morning, it was raining hard and wind was also blowing very hard,  at 8:00 a.m. checked the rain gauge and it registered  1 3/4 inches. We are expecting more this after noon, and thru the weekend. With all this rain the Lake levels around here should rise.

I hope all you guys in the heartland stay safe.  For a change we've had mid 70's and sunny for the past week.  A little dry though but perfect cruising weather.  Sorry about sending the snow your way Sixball :D

We are still in a drought for now, but I can sure do with out the tornados. At least the season around here is just may/june. When my brother and I built my house in '02, (he's a contactor in Calif) he built it to Calif code w/ hurricane ties and earth quake straps, 2x6 construction and basement. I felt pretty good about it till '07 with the Greensburg tornado (19 miles east). One never thinks of a Chevy Suburban being thrown on or through your house. That was some scary stuff!

I had all the twisters I wanted as a kid in Texas and Tom don't fret about sending the snow we could use a lot more.

I know, I know exactly what you guys sre talking about. I had my roof replaced about 2 weeks ago, and they stripped all my gutters off at that time, and then the rain came down. I felt like I was living in a grass hut with all the rain flowing off my roof on all the edges. They just preplaced the gutters yesterday and now the sun is shining, but it's supposed to rain the rest of the week with snow moving in on Sunday. I want to shoot some primer.  :'(  Thanks for letting me vent.
The lawn looks great though.

We must be living right here in Kentucky as our weather has been great temps in the low 80,s and no humidity, hope everybody is safe in the Midwest.

Setting up for a heck of a day all over. Munch has tropical/hurricane type, Ghost may get snow, FATnLOW and I are in the possible tornado zone. It's 9:00 am here, and it's twilight like out side, really dark.

Y'all take care out there. I'll be sticking close to the basement today!  ;D

You guys be safe. it's really dark here, but it's the new normal around here. I am gonna go to the shop and bang on some metal to please the sunshine god, and make me a little happier.

Been raining off and on all day, with lighting and thunder, severe storms and flooding in the low lying areas, had about 7.5 inches of rain last 40 hrs or so...and more to come.....good thing I live on a hill  no chance of me getting flooded...Sammons looks like maybe 2 or 3 days of this stuff at last report I seen.. at least no tornados close to me  .I've had a belly full of this. At least the Lake below me is getting it's share to fill back up if they don't have the gates open.

I went out three times during the night to knock the snow down from my canopys, and the trees. Some of the trees were broken. I sure hope this is the end of this stuff for awhile. We got about nine inches of the heavy stuff. How did you guys fair?

Wow!  I saw on the news that the Denver area got some snow but this is May, I didn't expect that :o  It's supposed to hit 80° hear today.

First round came late morning,  nothing but much needed rain. Second round came around 8:00pm, several rounds of rain, some pea size hail. We didn't even get the wind here, a small tornado about 50miles SW of us at 9:00, then another 50 NW about 10:00. I think they both were out in the country. Now we are clear till maybe next Wednesday or Thursday. (I did carry my hand built hood and trunk lid down stairs just in case ;) )

Ghost I was watching all the nasty stuff going on around the springs, then they would pan up to the Denver area snow. Crazy!

It got up to the mid 50's yesterday and got rid of most of the snow. today is supposed to be in the 70's. It will be history. Until the next time. We have a car show every friday night at the local Sonic drive in, but the last few weeks it has been raining on those days. I'm sure everyone around here is  wanting  some nice weather.

Maybe I can shoot some primer today.

All is well here, just some rain and thunder boomers.  Not bad at all.  I spent the weekend reworking a 29 Chevy dash that I am thinking about putting in my 30.  I like the way it has the oval instrument location.

We were able to work outside yesterday for the first time in over a week. Thats a lot of rainy days for here. We finished the first round of bobcat work so I have a road to the new water tanks and a couple of big flat spots to move the "salvage yard" to. Now my wife won't have to drive through the future projects and past failures to get home. Evening should be more pleasant. ::)

Oh yeah. I know what ya mean about being depressing. I was starting to rethink about building a roadster.

1 st day we haven't had any rain....I live at a Lake community, before all this rain  the Lake was  3 foot below normal
now it is 27 feet above normal.. that gives you some kind of an idea as to how much rain we received.  Good thing I live on a hill and there is 100 feet difference in elevation from the Lake to our house....So no chance of any flooding here at the house or the community...Last  Friday we had a tornado that touched down about 10 miles  away...and no injuries reported as it was   at an uninhabited area

I've got most everything, and it's real close to being a good roller. Check out my build thread. It's a 1926 Buick

Dang, yesterday at 1:30 it was calm, sunny and 70°. Then my weather alert went off on my phone. :o  Tornado Watch, In November? Thought it was an old notice untill i turned the tv on. It all missed me by 40 miles west and further, crazy.

Not something i'm use to seeing from early July on around here. Then to day cold and snowing up north.

That's some scary looking stuff. We just got close to a foot at my house, but further south by a few miles it was 19 to 24 inches.

Hmmm. Maybe, but not all year hopefully. It is up on jack stands right now so I can check out all the assembly on the underside so nothing creeps up on me. Like the slightly loose brake line fitting I found.  :o

Unseasonably warm around here 50's to low 60's. I'm on a mission to see how long I can hold out before turning on my heat, I don't believe I've ever made it this long. I'm looking forward to cold weather as an excuse to finish the interior on my coupe.
