OK....obviously we're all into Chevy's now but think back.... what was your first car? Mine was a 53 Plymouth followed by a Dodge so you'd think I would have turned out to be a MOPAR guy. I guess it took me awhile to wise up but I soon realized that you could get way more bang for your buck with a good old Chevy small block and I never looked back.

Always had Chevys, my father gave me his 57 Chevy 2dr hardtop 210 with a blown engine. I was 15 and pulled the engine (6 cyl) out and dragged it into our basement. We never had a garage, during the winter I rebuilt it and in Spring dragged it back up the stairs and installed it.
When I turned 16 my 57 was ready to go. Not coming from a motorhead family I learned a lot working on that car and appreciated the interchangeability of Chevy 6 cyl and V8 parts..from that point on...I was a Bowtie Guy. Even learned that my Chevy 235 distributor points worked in my first Harley!

I remember going to the Harley and asking for points..they put a set on the counter and said something like $6 back then, looked closely and said never mind, then bought a set for a Chevy for $1.50..worked fine. Same with the $6 Harley oil (AKA $1.50 Vavoline oil).

cheaper was better especially with all the territory markings those old harleys would lay down.
I was chevy from day one because of my oldest brother he had a 55 2 door 150 series witha 235 engine and standard trans we would pull our camp trailor with, them my grand father had a 59 2 door for the same purpose. I think the only time we worked on something else was an old stude pick up that needed the carb rebuilt. I did have a few fast Mopars, but chevys always were first and foremost.

My Dad always had GM cars but bought me a 65 Ford Falcon for my first car. I drove it for a year then sold it to buy a 67 Chevy Short Bed 4 X 4. That was my ride until I was out of school and working. From there most of my friends were into Chevys (Camaros and Chevelles). It wasn’t long before we were pulling the engine out of my 70 Nova to rebuild it over the winter in our cellar.

I don't want to get beat up here, but I have never really been a Chevy guy, just a car guy. The first car I drove was a Gremlin. I believe every car I ever bought (never owned a new car), I bought out of necessity, or I liked it at that time, or it was a great deal. I crashed my 1960, 6 cyl. Rambler and replaced it with a 1970 Torino 429 Cobra Jet 4 speed, because it was only $1,000. and I needed a car immediately.
Even with my collector cars. My '32 could have been any make, I just wanted a 5 window and I knew this car and the guy who owned it. However, I will say this; now that I compare my '32 to other makes, I would prefer the Chevy to all others, including Ford.

I don't want to get beat up here, but I have never really been a Chevy guy, just a car guy. The first car I drove was a Gremlin. I believe every car I ever bought (never owned a new car), I bought out of necessity, or I liked it at that time, or it was a great deal. I crashed my 1960, 6 cyl. Then my brother you have seen the light. HEHE. I too have owned other makes and had a blast with most all of them, but I have been chevy orange for a long time, too long to remember. I think that's why I like this site because we are a mixed breed of fellows that don't have to voice our opinion about the smallest things and they are small things....John

My first car was a 57 Chevy paid $300.00 for it. Rebuilt the motor at age 16 and it all started from there.
