Title: Cooler weather is setting in
Post by: ghost28 on September 27, 2013, 07:28:57 PM
I think the high tonight is mid 30s Not much to write about, but it's starting to look like fall is taking hold of ColoRodo. I guess when the honey do's stop I can actually get into the shop for a little hotrod labor. Set the heat to a comfort level and have a little fun  building cars instead of installing hardwood flooring.
What is everyone else up to?

Starting to feel like fall here in New Hampshire too. We already had snow earlier this week on Mount Washington.  Gone on vacation this coming week but after that the boat is in storage so I have both stalls of the garage to work on the 33.  Gotta bust my tail to get it road worthy for the spring!

For me "deer season" is around the corner just spotted six pointer behind the house about 30 minutes ago, a lot of deer around...not a lot with horns.  Got the shop heater cleaned and ready to go.....come Spring the 33 Chevy coupe will be ready for the road.

I bought a wooding burning fireplace insert a few years back because I like to sit in front of the fire an a cold night and watch the flames dance. It turned out to be so efficient that I was able to heat the whole house with it.....Now my only problem is that this time of the year for me means splitting and stacking wood . As they say you can't have you cake and bla bla bla...........OK so I'll stop complaining and get back to work.

As I was mowing grass last night for one of the last times this year I could feel the coolness in the  air in the low spots of the yard and how that reminded me that fall is just around the corner. I plan on spending a lot more time in the garage this fall getting something done on that 32.

Man it was great here yesterday nice and warm even in the shade. I set up shop on the back porch and finished up the hardwood in the kitchen area. Today just a little base board work and clean up myy tools then I am gonna relax a bit, cuz my old bones are really aching today. It is so much easier to work on hotrods then honey do's, and baby sitting. Here'a hoping it will stay nice for all of us just a little while longer. STAY SAFE GUYS.

Well as the leaves begin to turn the red, yellows and oranges that make New Hampshire's foliage famous it was time to put the bass boat away and make room in the garage to work on the 33.  Just got back from Nashville and it's time to get to work on the car.  Starting to work on mounting the battery and getting ready to wire the car.  I'll have to save a little bit of time to get the snow blower ready and all the other things that come with this time of year but it's back to work.

We have been cutting up and splitting logs that I stacked last year.Another day should do it. Still have to clean all the manure piles out of the paddoks so thats next. I havent even looked at the snow removal equipment, and I still have to get that NW wall insulated in the shop so we can move the chicken truck in for the winter.I figure I'll be able to start doing something with the '28 around dec1,but then its sled season !

Well, when you start to get into it (hobby farming),it looks like a fun thing to do,and it is,but you get some land here, then a piece next door comes up so you buy it mostly so no one else does,,and youve always wanted a draft mule, and a  friend knows some one that has one,so now we need another 70 bales of hay (and a place to keep it because we are already maxed out),on and on.So its easy to get out of control. We(nancy) are at a scary place in as much as that if something happens to either one of us , the house of cards will come down. When it snows here, and it does about every other day from dec-april,it takes me close to 5 hrs to plow the whole place out.As an example, our driveway is .4 mile long, and drifts shut almost every day in one spot. The shop is 700' from the house, the mule barn is 500' in the other direction, and every 3 plows I have to use the blower on the tractor to move the banks back. We got about 170" last year. In the summer its mowing, putting in the garden, which is an acre or so,then putting up the corn,beans,tomatoes....... when they are done. Keeping the sprinkler system for all this running. Anyway, the car, even though its something I really want, only gets whats left over in terms of time, and Ive always had a thing about never paying someone to do something that either I can do, or can learn how to do.So basically, everything we have or have had ,we literally built ourselves. Its a habit that is hard to break, but at age 69,cant continue!

Wow Trbomax I guess I can't bitch about the hours I work!  Sounds like your days are pretty full.  We get snow here in southern New Hampshire but usually not that bad.  I have two driveways that it takes me about an hour to snow blow both.
