In 1973 we were taking a Corvette to Pheonix AZ. to do commercials for Bandag recapped tires.
Dennis Long was the driver and we had a camera man ride in the car for a spin around the road coarse at the raceway outside of Pheonix.
The car was a 1968 Vette with a 427 and set up for track running.
The camera man was so overtaken by the speed and the curves that he couldn't hardly catch his breath and hang onto the camera at the same time.
He was standing up in the car holding on to the cage and Dennis was hanging onto him as well.
I was in the pitcrew for 2 years and had quite a time.
We ran Bandag recapped GoodYear tires and went 17 hours on the same set of tires in the 24 hrs of Daytona, until we blew both the engine and the transmission.
Ever change brake pads on a Vette with the rotors glowing red hot!!
