Man that sucks. Hopefully karma hits the other driver in the form of a SWIFT truck 😯.

Did taxes today. Basically broke even with what I owed and got back. 😢

The last 2 weekends I've been researching/finding stuff for the cargo conversion.
Habitat for humanity has a place called re-store.
Found some cabinets dirt cheap $25. Did some mocking up and changed the places I was gonna put those.
Windows came in. Yay.
Also picked up some insulation today.
A few teaser pics.

The cabinets I was gonna mount to the front wall got moved when I mocked up a old mattress I had.
By accident. Just moving it out of the way , I set it on its side and noticed the water tanks would fit inside that way. I just need to punch out the backside and use luan to extend the side and wala. Sink will fit too.
Good, cause I was having a hard time finding a cabinet small enough to fit since the porta potty was next to it.

RV windows are expensive but I found an alternative on YouTube. This guy was using shed/playhouse windows since they have
"Safety glass". He said they work great.
I called up (Shed windows and more) in south Carolina and asked if they would work.
He told me they actually supply the same windows to teardrop manufacturers in the area and haven't had any problems.
So I ordered 2 . With shipping it was $80.😁
They are flush mount slider windows.
One is 14x23 and the other is 18x27 which will fit my small A.C.unit.

I'm having fun watching this. I get tired of watching guys screw up nice old cars. Nothing to lose here! This is a guy modifying a trailer so he can more fully enjoy using his car the way it was meant to be used. I like the window. Have you thought of a pull out? I have always liked the folding tent things, the Old roll up Alaskan campers, and pop out travel trailers. I think it's just the mechanics of it. You know how much you need and how much you want to tow while I like to see someone else build tricky stuff.  ;D

You are really moving along on this. Some great ideas too.

Thanks .
It's just for when I have shore power. Probably not gonna do 12volt for awhile.
Puck lights is all I need for now.
Cant justify the cost of a RV battery over a few AAA batts that last at least 2 seasons.
We do have a battery powered fan that seemed to work pretty well in the teardrop.

Started teardown. A pry bar, deadblow mallet, and screwgun made quick work of it.

One thing people change as well, is the wiring connections.
The factory uses scotch-locks which either vibrate loose or cut the wires. These gotta go.

On the aluminum seams I am going to use (eternabond tape) just to make sure no leaks and silicone those over the framing.

Had enough daylight and it was warmer after work to work outside.
Taped the wires to the side.
Put some roofing tape on the middle seam.
Siliconed the other 2 seams behind the framing.
Was able to cut and install some insulation , foil side out.
Also added serrated washers to all the grounds.

Moving right along. You're not giving yourself any time to miss the old trailer. ;)

Im sure I'll miss it when I tow this up Parley's canyon (I-80). 😯
Probably going snow wheeling tomorrow. I need a break, been working on too many things and work is car's all day. Probably why the 32 is sitting.

Put a carpet in this last year and it's back for a top.
Started teardown and it got ugly real fast.

Wow, that did get ugly fast. Man I've probably put a hundred tops on old Vettes, never ran across one with the header rusted out before. Wonder if the car spent time near the coast? Seen a lot of cars rust out up high from the salty sea air/fog that moves in when with in a 1/4 mile from the ocean.

I noticed that BITCHIN RIDES has started using a chemical dipping stripping company.  All that rust would be removed chemically with the possible damage from blasting clean.

I use a company here in Canada and its worth it to protect the metal......STEEL ONLY .
