Took the '39 on it's first long road trip this weekend. Went to Pueblo for the NSRA Rocky Mountain Nats, a round trip of about 1000 miles. Car really ran great and had no issues. I did have one small problem and that's called stupid. After the awards on Sunday I pointed it into the wind for the trip home. I heard there was a little bad weather around Santa Rosa New Mexico. Got to the Raton Pass, construction area, bad rain and hail. No place to pull off because of construction and two lane traffic. Got to Las Vegas, NM and it went down hill fast. Wind, rain and snow, yes snow. Getting dark...kept going. Stupid. Made it back at 10 PM and the only weather I didn't run into was tornadoes. Found my fone had just those warning when I got home. Didn't see any but with the dark clouds, tight fisted steering and nose on the windshield I wouldn't have seen a T-Rex standing on the side of the road. If you find yourself in a situation like this, get a room don't be stupid like me.

Try some Rain-X. Storms ain't crap after that.
Don't get the stuff that's pre mixed in the washer fluid, get the little yellow bottle and follow the instructions to a T.
After it hazes use plenty of towels to prevent streaking.
Also works great on chrome to keep water spots off after the rain.
Works best on flat windshields like our old cars and jeeps. Sometimes I dont even need to turn on my wipers, it just blows the rain right off.
Sounds like a cool trip, glad ya made it back safely.

I went through a bad storm in my old jeep, new wipers. Couldn't see what lane I was in had to pull over till traffic cleared cause of the headlight glare.
Wish I could go through that same storm again with rain X . No biggie now.
Try just one side of the windshield to see the difference. I love this stuff and recommend it to any trucker.

I did have Rain-X on the windshield. It works way better than any high dollar wiper system that I've put on street rods but after a while I guess it washed off. When I put it on the windshield is very clean and I rub the Rain-X in, let it dry and polish the glass afterward. Part of my problem was the inside kept fogging up. I'm trying to drive with one hand fighting side gust of wind and wiping the inside with the other. Took a while before I remembered to use the defrosters! :o

That reminds me of a trip(shortest long story ;D) to get my brothers wifes '56 Olds 88 2dr ht. Loaded up the '57 with my friends and their two kids for a vacation on the west coast. My brothers wife wanted me to repaint her new car. Brother bought it from the original owner (I.R.S. man, had every receipt since new ;D) with 55k on the meter.
Brother put 100 miles on it, I checked everything on fresh service. Noticed wipers were slow, so I Rain-x'ed the glass. We took off headed back to Kansas. Leaving Mohave after getting gas, the radio said possible desert storm. Leaving Barstow we thought we were ahead of it, but not by much. Then the radio said another 10-15mph wind and the samd would pic up! We hauled ass trying to keep a good eye on traffic in the dust. Pulled in a rest stop just east of Kingman to wait out the storm. Woke up to a muddy brown '57 Chevy and a tan Olds. Had to find a car wash before proceeding.
At Williams Az, a rain storm. I didn't use my wipers so I could tell if Jay behind me could see with just Rain-X. Had generator locked up (the only thing I forgot to oil) so I made a quick fix and threw on an old alt just to run belts. Had to swap batteries every 4hrs to keep the Olds going, But I had to pull my heater fan assy to get the big Olds batt to fit in the Chevy. Then more rain and I couldn't figure out why my windshield was fogging up, switch was on. Dah.....no fan. Made it home and the rain-x worked ;D
Olds after paint and goodies, was dk grey/white. Those are Porta-walls. They were really good, but the mountain road home every night for 4yrs was wearing into the sidewall, so he had to take them off.

I need to figure out how to do a defrost vent on the 32. Maybe using the ash tray in the dash was an idea. Once I install a heater, one day.
