Any procedures (tricks) out there to remove the gaskets on auto transmission valve bodies? Just ordered a can of CRC gasket remover to try. Those gaskets really get stuck on that soft aluminum and even working slow with a razor blade scratches up the gasket surface.

Ed...My guys used to soak them in the hot tank for a few minutes and they would come right off but I'll bet that gasket removes get the job done for you. There are many brands of remover on the market and I've never used CRC but the ones that I've used worked well.

Thanks Moose...hope that the gasket remover works...if not - may need to build a small hot tank.

Ed, Let us know the results.

Ed Have you ever tried plastic razor blades? They will not gouge or cut the metal. They great to scrape with

Yes did try...but it seems like I can take a tranny apart and put it back together faster than scraping the valve body clean. From what I understand (and hope) is that the spray gasket remover softens the gasket so the plastic blades cuts right through the softened gaskets. I'll let you know in a few days.
