Title: Another project
Post by: FATnLOW on January 24, 2016, 10:58:58 PM
Got this from my  best friends wife, at an auction she had.  She also sold his 1939 chop top  '39 Chevy. Got this  Bennett  646 gas pump manufactured from 1941 to 1949 for the wife  she wants to make a decorative piece. She wants to follow the Polly Gas theme.... like example
Now she has some thing to keep her busy now can't  wait to see her sand blast it  Also got a Tall Tokheim Gas  pump door to make another wall hanging clock out of it..

"out of the bars" ? Oh, now I get it. I guess I should just sell the roadster and accept my failings.  :(

Nice pump project by the way.

Fatnlow be sure to post some pics of the wifes pumps when shes done. I often wish I would have grabbed some of that stuff from our Mobil warehouse before they got tossed. Double sided Peguses, Michelin signs, several old pumps etc. It was just old junk when we started hauling it out to the dump. Everytime I drug that stuff home, dad would haul it back out.

Vette, that '55 is pretty bad a$$!

Usually I don't like what happens when someone's goal is to build something "different". If it isn't in the realm there is probably a reason. Few people have the vision or skill do pull it off. This '55 is an exception. They did what they set out to do and came up with something truly unique yet with a classic look. Being someone who as a child was flung from the back seat of a '41 Dodge via the suicide doors I'm not a fan. They did a great job of hiding it until the door is opened. The hood and tilt front are well done. The detail is remarkable.  I'd like to hear it and see it go.

Same opinion here Sixball. The fact that it still looks stock and the engineering is great.   Not a fan of suicide doors either. When I was in second or third grade, dad had a yellow '33 Plymouth 5-w coupe(full fender hot rod). I never will forget the horrified look on dads face as he grabbed me. Somewhere i have a pic of it with a file board on the running board, fixing the dent in the qtr panel it left.

Really bad pics

I agree totally. 55 chevys are my favorite and sedans even more so. The detail that they achieved is amazing. I have top think they don't flip the front too often or at least unless two people are there to handle it. Very nice build, and kudos to the owner for crediting the builder.

Ed, looking forward to seeing what your wife does with the gas pump.  Should be cool!
