I took a pic of the doors fitment on the driver's/passenger sides.
Most of the gaps look even except for the front upper door. Gets tight there.
Of course though when I open the door it hangs down a bit, well im sure all 4 do that.
So let's talk about adjustments.
If I researched it right, all the adjusting is spacers at the floor/pillars???

It's hard to see it in the picture, the rear door seems to be a little high in the front; you have to remember the fit was not perfect back then as we think it should be compared to the cars today; we always strive for perfection

What do these shims look like or how thick are they?
Since on the subject. Do you guys keep the little springs in the front mounts ?
I still have the 2 but was unsure if I should use them since I went to steel beams.

I used conveyor belting of different thickness...because I had easy access to it

Not really related, but I quick story: Back in the late 70's- early 80's I worked at a Lincoln/Mercury dealership. One of the ways to adjust the window frame on a Zephyr (Mecruy's Fairmont) was actually to grab the frame and bend it. One customer was watching through the shop window and lost his mind when he saw two of us yanking on his car door and frame

Whatever works.
Probably a college professor who wanted to see you use a multi-thousand dollar clamping tool and gently reshape it with screws & levers.

I added a pic of the passenger side and the front springs up above. Looks similar to the other side.
The springs were under the frame with a long bolt going through on the front #1 mount.
Chopper:::; I laughed pretty hard when I read that.
We had to do something similar on a customer's car awhile back.
Im glad we dont have a window for them to peak through.

Those springs remind me of the ones Ford used to mount radiators. I'm sure they take some if the stress off of the wood joints when the car is moving. In truth they may let it move too much and stress the joints. I'm sure frame rigidity is part of it too. I would be interesting to be able to make a video that would show them in action. Do they let the body move both up & down? Would bolt tension limit the movement?

That's what im thinking. They were designed for a purpose. Maybe to help with adjusting , IDK ?
Since the new beam is steel , making adjustments may be harder. I made rubber body mount pads from mud flaps. Maybe I need something stiffer like conveyer belt to get the adjustments.

Nice sign! Pontiac did a lot with one of the most iconic logos. The '40- 50s hood ornaments with the plastic insert were the best.

Nice little sign you picked up.
Dad and Uncle kept trying to buy the big verticle neon lit Pontiac dealership sign at Greensburg. They wanted a little too much. In the end they got nothing as the '07 tornado got it.
