 So I’m sittin here in Moose’s Tech Corner just kinda staring at the walls when it suddenly dawned on me that this has become a pretty lonely place. Where are all of the interesting tech tips, the how to’s , the shearing of knowledge that only comes from years of building hot rods. I’ve waited for weeks….No, months and not so much as a single post from anyone, Zip, Zero, Zilch, Nada, and Nuttin!!! Don’t be a hoarder of technical knowledge ….It’s not good for you to keep all of that valuable information locked away in some dusty corner of your mind. Post it up here on the Moose’s Tech Corner so we can all benefit from your experience. What are you waiting for..Start banging away at that old keyboard.  Well now that I’ve gotten that off my chest I guess I’ll go back to staring at the walls..... OK where did I put that darned DO NOT DISTURB SIGN?

 After reading what is comming next week over on HAMB, I may be here full time! It seems they are not going to be fiberglass car friendly,even if it WAS built in 1962 by its owner (me) . every part on that car was either fabbed or adapted before 1962 but since I built a glass body and fenders,its not traditional! I'm moveing it up to my new shop sept 25 and will start the rebuild.Nothing major will change except the motor which will be bbc instead of sbc, the "cookie cutter syndrome".Even though it has been sbc since 1959 and will require a two rad cooling system and a frame stretch in front,it will be worth it to me. I have to figure out a way to keep all the build pics in one spot on my computer so I dont have to go hunting thru 3000 pics like I do now!

Didn't they do that with "rat rods" at one point? See that rat rods are back.  If you car is glass...maybe you can glue a magnet to the body and take a picture for the HAMB PD?

That is why I didn't do a build thread for my 33 Cabriolet on the HAMB.  I didn't want to take any crap about my independent front suspension.  Don't get me wrong there is a lot of good info on there so I do check in from time to time but I like the relaxed group of guys over here.  Plus I don't have to wade through a 1000 32 Ford threads before I find a Chevy one!

Mine has an independent front,but its a 48 chevy unit that was included in the new frame project back in 1961. Cant get more traditional than that.

The HAMB seems to pride it's self as being only for "Traditional" cars but I'll guarantee that if you dug down into it's current membership you would find that the vast majority of the members cars to not fit the mold. As stated above there is a lot of valuable information to be found there but as we grow and get more and more members here the same will be true here to an even greater extent because the information is not limited by to one particular type of vehicle.

I'll admit, I was trying to make mine look like it came out of the mid-sixties (although I included stuff that just makes good sense: front disc brakes, 3 point seatbelts), but I like them all! I'm already planning my next one. It's going to be a streetrod with all the gingerbread.

The way I see it we're all car guys or girls and need to promote the hobby before legislation takes it away from us.  So if it's a $100K street rod, a rat rod, traditional rod or a 100 point restoration we should all be on the same page.  Take kids to car shows, cruise nights and drag races so there will be car guys and gals 20 years from now.

I agree totally. If we continue to divide ourselves into categories condemming the other kinds of builds. Then this hobby has a good chance of going by the wayside. After my  last few builds going the way of semi traditional. (close but no cigar) I am thinking the Buick roadster is gonna have some of the finer treatments done to it, because I am into this one for the comfortable long distance drive.

I found the only ones that run their mouths off on Hamb were in late twenties. I built my first street rod in 1959 where they then.  I got a lot of P.M.s after from the older members that were great. All said the same as you. We all are in this together. We should work for the same cause.
