1934 Chevrolet Australian Holden Roadster
« on: April 12, 2020, 08:40:47 PM »
Owned this complete driving and running Roadster for the last 8 years and was a total ground up restoration by my Dad and was finished in the early 90’s! Roadster came from California all apart and shipped here to Massachusetts in 1988! My Dad and I had built many cars together over the years! He was more into turn off the century stock and original cars! I myself got hooked more into hot rods, fast and loud! Liked the car as it was but did not like driving back country roads at 45 mph! Plus had to drive it kind of like shifting a truck transmission with no synchros in these early Chevrolet cars! So 14 months ago decided to again do a complete ground up full restoration/resto-mod custom build! Here’s a few pictures of before and different stages of record build! For the record 1934 GM Australia Holden Standard Sports Roadster was Qty. 31 production made over 85 years ago! Worldwide today estimate of 10 existing in various conditions known! Oh the recent winter pictures are the only first running and driving with only 1 miles distance and only up to 3 mph max! So yeah my 400 SBC is not even broken in!

beautiful resto mod..........or older terminology......resto rod.   Choice of body colour, future upholstery and top colour is going to bring this whole endeavor together.

Can hardly wait for the upholstery to be done and fini !!!!!

great car rory

Very nice, definitely like the color.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

The amazing part of this build for me is that it went from a beautiful  "restored" stock car to a beautiful street rod without butchering anything. I think the entire original rolling chassis was spared. There is much of the build on the HAMB. Top quality ingredients all the way.

Thanks guys for all your positive comments! It feels great to get good recognition as these other sites like the O.C.D. VCCA Knitting Club and the Termites and Bowties have NO response for weeks on end!
Doing my best with my 34 Chevy Roadster build and my 34 Ford Sedan to have no date period for these builds!
Thanks Ed my garage is 30’x52’ with 12’ ceilings clear spanning the 30’ with no columns or steel! I did a strong back ceiling with purlins which gives me 14’ wide x 52’ long attic space with 6’ high collar ties for ease of walking! Very similar to old barns design!
Here’s a few pictures of my progress in my shop! Also I build and make all my jigs and rotisserie to work smart in my shop!

Thanks Sixball and yes.your correct! I still have the whole complete total restored 34 Chevy Standard running and drivetrain with many other parts that I did not use with my Roadster build and now up for sale! It could easily make a nice all wooden body Speedster!

Great looking roadster. You're not too far from me so maybe we'll see you at a show or cruise sometime.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

It fits here better than the other sites you mentioned. They have a narrower view but it's their view. We don't pick at each other here . It's almost like a Disney movie, "Thumper, What did your father tell you this morning?"

Here’s a few more build pictures of my 34 Chevrolet Australian Holden Roadster! I did a full trunk but still from the outside still has the T handle with the looks of a rumble seat mainly because with the rumble seat there’s barely another room for a small fold up chair and a small cooler! Am trying to post a video of me loading the Roadster for the trip to the upholstery shop! RoarsRods Thanks

I couldn't get the video, but the audio sounds like a healthy engine ;)
