Ditto!! Great video, very true. My oldest son (20) watched the video over my shoulder. He said "I don't like it, you can't compare generations". I just smiled, the ignorance of youth I thought. No reason to argue with him, some day he'll figure it out ;)

And on top or all those things the boys got drafted and served their country...The best thing that ever happened to me. That's where I learned how lucky we are in the good old US.Now it's all taken for granted...Too bad.

Technology is good but it's ruining our youths, it won't be long they will not be able to talk to each other but I'm sure they will be able to read a text message :( the schools aren't even teaching cursive writing anymore because we all use a keyboard how sad is that :( :(

I just heard a day or two ago that people who can't read cursive won't be able to read our historic documents. When I was teaching cursive I would hear things like, "That's the way I make my Ts." To which my standard reply was, "They are not YOUR Ts they are OUR Ts and if you don't make them the way we say we won't let you make them at all. The whole point is that we all make them the same so someone can read what you write. Otherwise you are waisting both your time and the readers." I got lots of positive comments from teachers of later grades saying they could tell what kids had been in my class just from their hand writing. :)
One of my students got his eye shot out by a BB gun, His brother's. It was a good lesson for the rest. ::) In the old days we learned from mistakes, ours and others. 8) I jumped off the grain bin of the combine with the little parachute from a weather balloon. None of my cousins had to do that. ;D

It is true about keyboarding, I make my living by being an IT Director so I use a keyboard all day. My hand writing now sucks.
I'm happy to say that I'm not about technology just for the sake of technology, but I am old school in that I seek it for solutions to problems. Unlike some others, we don't have to have it because it is the latest thing. There has to be a fit. My 2 cents.

It’s up to use to teach the new generation about trades and skills. There is too much emphasis on college degrees Some kids are just not college material but great with using their hands and common sense. People with trades like welding, auto tech, electronics, and heavy equipment operators etc will always be in demand and will command big salaries in the future.
A kid with a college degree can tell you how to tie your shoes…but a kid with developed vocational skill will show you how to do it.
Not too long ago my grandson (8 yrs young) went on an amusement park run as part of a two-car trip with numerous other young folks. At the park the lady in the second car left her lights on which drained the battery.
Discovering that the battery was dead the two adult drivers discussed calling a tow truck to get the car running. My grandson asked if they had jumper cables, the other driver said yes but didn’t know how to hook them up.
My grandson said that's easy, just hook them up - red to red and black to black - then start the car. After the car started he said just keep it running and don’t shut it off until you get home.
They asked him..where did you learn to do that..he said “papa showed me”. Those two college degrees didn’t have any value that day.

I remember during the summer spending all day outside. The only time we came in was for lunch. There was always a baseball game in the field across the street or a street hockey game on my street. Only had 3 channels on the TV and it didn't get turned on until after dinner. Sixball what grade did you teach? My daughter is a third grade teacher.
