Ron Francis Brite Bulbs

(1/1)

TFoch:
I bought these to make sure people behind me could see my brake lights.  Both bulbs burnt out after 1,400 miles on the car.  Has anyone had any problems with these bulbs?

Tom..I have them in my taillights and the housing was getting so hot it melted my stock type 32 plastic lenses. I changed to glass lenses removed the rubber plug that I had put in the bottom of the housing where the license plate light used to go and that brought the temperature way down and so far the bulbs are still working after 5 years of use.

TFoch:
Mine were not vented at all.  I was surprised they failed so quickly.

I have the francis bright bulbs as running lights in my 35 std coupe, installed them back in 2000.

For the brake light bulbs I used GE HP1, 100 watt halogen bulbs and used a 40 amp circuit breaker from francis to protect the system.  I also have a pair of Harley lights mounted off my luggage rack with same bulbs as like 3rd brake lights.   You know when I have my foot on the brake when your behind me.

When you put your foot on the brakes at idle and 14 volts, it goes down to 9 volts charging they draw that much power.

The GE HP1 bulbs are actually driving lite bulbs sold at Canadian tire.
