Getting close to filling the top on my '33 2 door sedan...What has been used/ or suggested to use to fill the top? I want to use a donor top off a car, truck or whatever. I just want to fill the original factory opening. Any suggestion would be helpful....Thanks

The person I bought my car from used a piece of flat sheet metal, it looks ok. But I think a top out of a mini van or a station wagon something with a raised rib would look better.

FYI: Here's my roof fill thread.....

I've read a couple articles of guys using Mustang roofs, but I don't think that would be long enough for a sedan. I also think a van roof might be the way to go.

I have used a station wagon top with ribs in it on a Model A sedan before...I guess I'll look at that and also a Van roof...

Nice looking car, I think the ribs on the roof makes it look better
-
If you were considering the rib look...the S10 Blazer has them and is long.

I used a Jeep Cherokee when I filled my '36 Plymouth Sedan roof. Worked out pretty well.

A ribbed roof off of a van would be a little sturdier than a plain flat roof.

A friend of mines dad in Florida did my top on the 1930. I believe it is a 1998 Tahoe. I like it...

Munch. . I like that looks like it laid down well .... I'll be looking for that top and also a Chevy Blazer....Thanks for all the input...
-
Thank you sir, I could not be more pleased.
It looks like it came that way, and I like the look of the ribs.

It looks like it went in very well, I like the looks of the ribs too

I didn't think i was a big fan of ribbed roofs, but the A you did and Munch's '30 really look good, I'm a convert.

I think it would be awesome to compile the roof options that work for each car. From the experience and knowledge of everyone here, to make a sticky thread. That would be a great reference for people like me who might want to do it.

RCstang, it kind of looks like we already started one ;D
I will also tell you to stay away from Monte Carlo tops from the '90's. That's what I used on mine and I played holy hell cutting it down and making it work. In retrospect, I should have just trashed it and started fresh with something different.

Two more pics

Like it a lot...Gonna keep my eyes peeled for a Tahoe top I like the way it looks joining the original curved sides ,,,Thanks for the Photos.....

Here's that 1954 Chevy roof welded into my 33 Chevy.
-
Here's a picture of mine after it was all prettied up. Do NOT use the roof off of a Monte Carlo!

Had a question on this posting so.......Posting for others that may have this project to do...

That sure looks good to me, and its mighty straight as well vette59jdwl

Looks very nice, mine is flat and it's to flat in my opinion, still working on blocking the roof.
