I will be interested to see where this goes. Usually I think you see them as small blocks in the 30-40 range, I guess depending on the quality build.

Two of my high school friends took the "Mommy-Daddy" game to new levels. Gary's mother was married to Jim's father. Neither of them lived with this couple. Jim's father was part owner of a Chevrolet dealership. Gary's mother got a new car every year and Gary made sure it was a Vette. Gary got to pick them out. I helped order the '62. Jim complained to his mother that his dad bought Gary a new Corvette. Jim's mom went to another Chevy dealer and bought Jim a new Vette. Gary and Jim used to hang out together and often swapped cars for the night or even the weekend. Gary was much more sane and a much better driver than Jim. They went to Laguna Seca together and were racing on the coast highway on the way home. Jim lost it, went off the road, and broke the back half of the body off, almost everything from the back of the doors back. He was not hurt but was able to convince his mother that the Corvette was unsafe because it didn't handle well. Now to the point of this narrative: Jim talked his mom into buying him a 1963 Cobra, a real friggin' Cobra. Aluminum body, knock off wire wheels, 289 Ford V8, 4 speed, ride like a buckboard Cobra. Jim kept his license for less than a month. His mom could not fix that. The Cobra was for sale on the showroom floor at Jim's dad's dealership. Gary and I talked the other partner's son,who was a surfing buddy of ours, into letting us take it for a "test" drive. We were gone for a while and had a ball. I was not as good of a talker as them because I could not talk Gary into letting me drive. That ia my one and only Cobra adventure. The little V8 was plenty of engine for that car. To this day the fiberglass ones don't interest me at all. I'd like to have that one and the '62 Vette that we ordered for Gary's mom. ::)

That's a good story, Sixball. I have three older brothers who would sometimes tote me around on their travels around the neighborhood when I was little. We always made our way past the car dealerships in my neighborhood, and there were quite a few, to check out whatever the latest muscle car was. The only problem is, I was so small I barely remember and couldn't tell you what I was looking at. My brothers remember the cars vividly and tell stories of Cobras, Vettes, 442's, Hemis we looked at. I don't want to wish my life away, but I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to I have been born 10 or 20 years earlier.

You'll know in 10 or 20 years. ;D It's not as much fun on this end of the years. ::)
