SELLER IS TIGER JONES.........real name dave sylvain and is the technical advisor in the VCCA for 33-34 open cars.

To anybody viewing the windshield frame, note that there is no bottom chrome frame ????????  Chevrolet used the glass only on the bottom and it bumped into an L shaped pieced of dovetailed rubber that is mounted in a metal frame that bolts to the body........totally diff than fords.  To keep the glass in the bottom of the frame ,  has a metal cap held in with a screw.

not sure what year chev roadster you have , but I have a a pair of 32---35 aluminum windshield posts for a roadster , that do not use a windshield frame.

The aluminum posts , chopped 3" , are cast with slots on the side and are called frameless.  You use glass 6 mil, with setting tape of the right thickness and have the glass cut to match the top of the cowl.   Price is $95 plus shipping by postal system.

For the windshield frame on ebay.......you would also need the metal piece that sits on top of and is screwed into the cowl that is specific to 1933---1935 chev roadster.  In 4 years of owning my roadster I have never seen this part come up for sale.  The 2 pieces of rubber used with the roadster bottom are available from LYNN STEELE rubber in Denver NC .

I decided to go to seller in Australia and buy an aluminum Duvall style windshield instead. ------------  $1500 AU $ plus shipping .  Because it was based on an Australian HOLDEN body it had to be narrowed 11/16" per side.

its a CARTER STYLE WINDSHIELD from Australia

WOW That's a good looking windshield. I like that. I have 27 Chev cowl so I'm going to have to make mine because I can't use the stock posts. Appreciate the offer. Ron

mike  Thanks for the pictures. A friend has those for his car and I tried them on my cowl. Would need a lot of work to fit mine, but I will borrow his again and take another look.  My cowl. Take a look and see what you think. Ron

first off let me say I love the factory firewall design........oh ya !

just looking at your top of cowl, great job on it by the way, the frameless posts I have from a 1932 chev roadster to get them to fit.  Might need to make a 1/2 or 1" ?? spacer to form fit where these would have to go, then put the posts on top.  Guess it all depends how much you would have to remove to get the new posts to conform to the cowl shape. Not a lot of room to start grinding with belt sand machine end of the machine.

I purchased 10 ALUMALOY RODS off ebay to repair the aluminum duvall we had to shorten 11/16" per side to fit the 34-35 chev cowl/firewall top.  It was taken to a guy to do the welding, it looked like he had used aluminum arc welding rod to weld it back together. The resto shop where the cowl section is being repaired and fitting windshield to it sent it out to get done.

I have an eastwood 200 amp TIG ac/dc but heaviest it will weld is 3/16 .

Because its a poured sand cast unit,  my welder buddy rick says the aluminum  probably had impurities in it , which caused the ache pock marks to the surface on either side of the welds.  So the alumaloy which is applied using a propane torch will be used to fill the surface acne and then a MILL FILE used to very carefully draw file down to a complete level surface.    All this crap is trickier than what started out as simply cut 11/66" out and weld.

I was going to have the windshield frame powder coated a satin black rather than polished aluminum.  Getting to the age where I don't want all than polishing maintenance   . I made that mistake in 1996 on my coupe with chromed jag rear, polished stainless front IFS, headers, exhaust , engine stuff, drive shaft.

This time around its all getting powder coated or eastwood ceramic paint.  Gimmie the lawn hose, some suds and an airline to blow it off dry.

The frameless windshield posts were made for the 1932 EXPERI-METAL chev roadster produced back late 80--90's in ohio . These were some the extras that were sold off after company went belly up .

The chevy firewall is a clean design , so I left it alone plus it gives the car character. I do quite a bit  of aluminum welding and those cast frames are nasty to modify. That s a bunch of work for 11/16 but that s hot rodding. It is worth it when it's as nice looking as yours is.
I like the idea of satin black finish and I am like you older and tired of polishing, plus I like a more subdued look. Ill check back if I can use those posts. Ron
