Yesterday As I headed to the post office to pickup my new phone I noticed several cars in front of the home of a guy i have bought a lot of parts and pieces for mu junk collection. I decided to drive by and when I got close I saw the ESTATE SALE sign. I hadn't talked to him in a year or so but sorta kept track on what he was working on in his yard. He was into boats, tractors, and Military vehicles. I saw a friend's '36 ford pickup so i stopped to see what had happened. The people running the sale didn't know Bob or have any interest other than selling his stuff. People were in and out of the house, in all the sheds and the yard. There is a lot of stuff and I was very restrained I picked up a wheel two hydraulic rams and a little jewelers buffing wheel. There was a lot more and the prices were very low. I checked out an OMC boat motor and an extra head for it that looked good, same as the 153 four cylinder I'm building for my roadster. The was a complete and I think rebuilt Dodge flathead six a spare for his WWII personnel carrier, There were winches, tons of Jeep tranny parts, tools just lots. It was too much like walking through my own yard and my friend felt the same way. I've got to start cleaning up some of this crap so my sons don't get stuck with it. I knew what a lot Bob's stuff was but not many would have and they wouldn't know what mine is either. It's not marked and it's not in order. Anyway it was sad and scary at the same time. This has been creating up on me for a while. If I had a bigger tractor I'd just dig a big hole. ;D

As some of you know my Dad and Mom lived with us (apartment we built above the garage) for the last 12 years of their lives. When they moved in my Dad brought a lot of stuff! He never threw out much. It's been 2 1/2 years since he's passed and I'm finally going through and cleaning out his possessions. I've been purging some of my stuff at the same time so my kids don't have to do it later. Tough letting stuff go sometimes but a necessary evil!

I just returned home from the funeral paying my respects to a lady's husband I used to work with. He was sevity years young as I sat there watching the pictures scroll thru of his life and the last one showed his birth and death date, I realized he was born five years earlier than me. It gave me something to think about on my trip home.

I've been thinking all day of a few things I saw there yesterday while I did a little clean up here. ::) When I met Bob he had two anti-aircraft guns in his back yard. :o

Likewise, I have to start thinning out, I don't want to put that burden on my boys.

I drove by the place this morning but no one there. I guess they are just selling on weekends. It occurred that the ONC boat motor may be a 181 which make it way more desirable, 20 more horses to start with. I have to check it out I have a friend looking at a 151, Iron Duke, I have for a Model A pickup project but the 181 would be better for that. Funny I never thought of that Saturday.

I was thinking the same thing last month. With me going down hill rapidly, I got pieces and parts everywhere. It overwhelmed me what to do with all of it. Then I decieded it was too much of a bother. Most of it is at the shop, and my coupe/ and Vette pieces here at the house. I'll just let my buddy Tom (who now owns my shop) and my brother deal with it anyway they want after i'm gone😁

Tonight I can see well enough to do this with my old bifocals. (I think) I can see TV better with nothing. That part is better than before. I'll need a new set of glasses. It's getting better by the hour now! This morning I was worried.

Thanks guys. The doctor gave me a new med yesterday to take at bedtime. Everything a blur until 1:00 pm today Right now it seems about the same as lastnight. When you only have one eye you tend to worry. :)

I talked with the Doctor today and what I'm "seeing" is normal. It'll even out with time. :)
I went back to the estate sale this morning. They are running it Fridays and Saturdays. It dawned on me that the OMC boat motor might be a 181 ci 140 hp rather than a 153 ci 120 hp I assumed it was Saturday Well you know what they say about "assume". It was a 181 and sold yo a guy I know about 15 minutes before I got there today. :( Oh well it went to a good home and not scrap. I picked up two home made reversed (why) six lug 16" Chevy wheels that may end up on the back of the roadster and a 2 1/2 to 5 ton Coffing chain hoist for $20.

Good luck with your eyes I had cataract surgery on both eyes and the same day I had clear 20/20 vision. I remember anything white really looked bright and sharp. That surgery was after I tore the retina in my shooting eye....the laser surgery was a lot of fun :o
I'm back to great vison but have a lot of floaters as a result of the retina bleeding before laser surgery. Something to keep in mind is that the fluids in your eyes thicken with age, so any fast or hard head movements actually push and pull on the retina which in my case tore the retina stem.
Never could understand why some boxers get back in the ring after age 50...could wind up blind. Cracks to the head are not good.

My son and I just got back from a raid into Commifornia. He bought a '55 Studebaker wagon that is actually in better shape than we expected. He got his last one, (a '54) 24 years ago when he was 14. There was another 181 GM base bot motor that I was going to buy until I wiped it over and water ran out of the empty spark plug holes. What a shame. :(
