Title: Identify Paint Color
Post by: munch on April 04, 2020, 11:56:15 AM
While I was redoing the 1953 Chevy cab for my latest project, I found what appeared to be the original color.  It was a shade of turquoise sort of bluest green.  I found some colors online, but not for trucks I don't think.  I ordered a sample of Indian Turquoise, but it needs to be a tad greener.
Can anyone help identify this color?

Hey Munch. My paint books don't go back quite that far. Found a paint chart for 1953 chevy trucks, it may not be complete as it's missing Onix black. My closest guess with whats showing would be code 520- transport blue.

If your truck has the body cowl tag, it should have a number under paint. Might look and give us the code number if its there and maybe we could pinpoint it and find a manufacture code. (Ppg, Dupont, Acme, etc)

I would say , yes, its the OCEAN GREEN 519 code.  Sure looks like it too me.   That's the number you want to find on the GM fisher body tag on the firewall right side .

might see if you can find a picture on line google search of that truck with that color.

Colors are really hard to get right on chips, pictures of chips are worse. Monitors, cameras etc change color a bit.

519- Ocean Green
520- Transport Blue

from what I could see of your original colour , has to be that OCEAN GREEN.

Firewall tag will have the paint code........as built.

Also the **original paint on the firewall**  will be under the firewall tag that has 2 rivets holding it on.

Mine was originally the Cream Medium a really nice color. When I got it the firewall was like new and there was CREAM written in the wet paint with a finger on the passenger side.
