1930 Chevy Coack luggage rack.
« on: July 06, 2023, 12:26:45 PM »
I want to put a luggage rack on my 1930 and am  having a hard time finding one. I did  find one rack on ebay but no hinges. I don' really know how they mount either. Can someone help?

Thanks

Speedway sells one and it folds up. Looks like it mounted through the bumper brackets.  It's for a Ford....but really,  who's gonna know.

Oh, The Ford guys will know.  ;D  The question is who cares? If it works for you go for it. A lot of that stuff was after market or at least came from outside suppliers.

I have an original one. Found it buried under the junk that was in my 32 when I bought it. I I remember correctly it mounts to the rear apron bolts. I can dig it out and confirm that If you would like. I found a trunk to go along with it. just never got around to putting on my car.

Thank you sir, it looks just like what I found. I also found the brackets at I&I Reproductions. When I get everything I'll try to figure out just how it fits. The brackets that are wielded on must go through te tank cover. Do you think that is right?

I haven't looked at it that close, I think that's right, the two little brackets are mounted with the rear apron cover bolts. When its opened the two longer arms come down and rest against the rear bumper brackets.  I'll look at it closer and let you know.

Thanks for the help, I should get thr rack on Monday. It is hard to tell, but those brackets might be missing. I hope not...

This is what I got today. Does it match yours? Mine needs to fit a 1930. I have no idea how this mounts.

Ideas?

I'll look at mine closer this afternoon I'll be in the garage putting new tires on my mower. Bought a new set of tires for a mower is like buying a set of tires for a automobile. :(

Took some measurement s, it mounts on the upper rear apron cover bolts. When unfolded there's two arms or supports that rest against the rear of the apron or bumper spring to support it, there's rubber bumpers on the arms to protect the paint, I think you can only use the rack if you have a split bumper, not sure about that, here's a couple more pictures,
