Ed how the hang do you find so much stuff OH by the way somewhere along the road i heard that you were the man to talk to about the small v8 in the 2000 GMC sierra S-15 I know it has a 700 R-4 behind it and that it is four wheel drive. The lad at Canadian Tire Garage told me that it did not pass the Emissions test i had a little talk with him and he said he never seen one that blew that high.so i asked him what would cause that and he said that the E.G.R. valve was in all probability stuck open.OK ????????Where the hang is the E.G.R valve hiding.I have looked all over and have not found it yet thanks vette59jdwl

If it's an S15..(AKA S10) probably a V6 and since it's a 2000 probably a 4L60E trans.
The EGR will be on the intake and looks like this:

Yes Ed its a 4.6 engine with a 700$4 four wheel drive S-15 Jimmy 1992 sorry about the error and yes the Egr looks similar to the one you have the picture of the mechanic tells me he thinks it is stuck open because he never seen one blow so high on a test vette59jdwl

Ed can one take these apart and clean them or are they just replacable thanks

What part of the emissions were high....HC, CO or NOx.. EGR being stuck would cause high NOX but if one of the other readings is high it could be something else. I believe the one on your engine the EGR is the stepper motor style and the motor is usually the culprit and if so it has to be replaced. A malfunctioning EGR will usually turn on the engine check light and set an engine code
