chevrolet small block engine questions

This hurt 327 chevy engine when I ran the numbers it codes with the casting numbers as 68 302 z28 or 327. So I ran the vin #s and it codes out as a flint Michigan engine Jan 09 with YC lettering coming back as 327 camaro standard with air conditioning 4 bolt main 240 horse. What a shame it's hurt. My question after rambling on so. Did they use the 327 blocks for making the destroked 302 z28 engine, and how did they go about destroking it?? Maybe I should try to save it? The heads are nothing special they code out as 307 or 327 172/150 70cc heads.

Yep, my ol school 301 is a 283 punched to 4"(.125) but chevy used 327 block 283 crankand called it 302.
Oh, I would save it. With a 283 you can't bore any more if needed, 327 block you can. Light weight car and have some butt kick'n hi rev fun!!

Thanks guys. Moose that site has the info I was looking for thanks. A buddy of mine has an original 69 302 sitting in his shop just gathering dust and I keep trying, but no joy as yet. I did find out from the info about Z28 that 67 and 68 327 and 302 blocks were just 2 bolt main. So I took the pan off and sure enough it's a 2 bolt main.
