Title: window cooler
Post by: 39delux on September 15, 2019, 05:55:56 PM
Went to a small car show not to far from home and decided to put the window swamp cooler in before leaving the house.  I don't do this usually because I don't want to break the glass and it's for display only.  On the way over I noticed it was blowing air into the car on a rather large volume.  I didn't have water/ice in the unit so the air was just so-so, like running with the window open.  In the afternoon it started raining and I decided to head for home.  Again, I left the unit in the widow but took a longer route home.  Would you believe the rain cooled air was very refreshing.  These things do work!  Not sure what would happen at 60-70 MPH and not willing to find out.  Got to thinking about the fresh air ducts on the 49-54 Chevys.  Put a swamp element in line and I bet it would cool just fine.

One of those in my pickup can make it too cool until you run out of water. In Nevada it doesn't take long. I have thought of putting misters inside of one and using a washer pump to supply it. Also thought of a similar setup for the cow vent. I'm sure it would work,

At least you know it works, but like you said, I don't think I would want to be going 60 or 70.
