Title: hood center rod

Looking for a hood center rod for a 1937 chevy sedan.
It holds the two hood sides together and allows them to hing

I found one.

The Filling Station has them #GR-14 but they are $349.50 (Yikes)

I would think any steel rod of the same size could do the trick, maybe even a galvanized piece from a hardware store?

McMaster-Carr has Stainless Steel rod.  I checked for a 6 ft piece of 1/4" diameter it was $9.43.

Also it is called a hood rod but it is not a round rod.
I found one in Il.
