Where would be the correct mounting position of these dashes? As the wood was long gone before I got the body, I think the dash had a gap of about a 1/8" (between windshield lip and dash) and if I recall the sides should be flush with the door jamb? I am trying to figure out where to mount my defroster vents, so I also need to know how wide the windshield garnish molding is at the bottom. (I don't have any yet) I'll be cutting a slot in them for the air flow. Edit** I went down to the shop and grabbed the only garnish molding I have (Right rear quarter glass-'34 std 2dr sedan). Is the windshied garnish the same width? About 1 3/8".Long story short, I may have to mount the dash out just a tad. Maybe not if I have room. The Vintage Air ducts are a straight shot down (tube connection) and won't work. Found my defroster duct stash and found two with a turnout that I will use to clear the backside of the dash.===================================================First off, that's a 1934 Chevrolet MASTER SERIES dash panel, which is same width as a 34-35 std and a 33 master. Its be a long time since I had my dash panel removed from the car. Its should have a piece of wood that runs under where the windshield molding goes so that it has something to be screwed into. Same applies to the dash panel, it mounts on top of that same wood piece with screws . At the end are 2 L brackets ( one each side ) and they mount to the posts and then they mount the dash panel. 1/4...5/16 or 3/8 ? BUTTON HEAD allen heads are best look. I am pretty sure there is a pair of those brackets listed under 34 chev on ebay now or just was.I am not sure if the dash panel goes over the wood and also over the metal that holds the windshield molding. Its completely different on my roadster..mike
Mike, I still have those brackets. I'm not using wood under it, so I was wondering if the dash ended up flush with the door jamb as in my pic. On my 34 master 5-w, I recall there being a gap ( as pictured) between the dash and the windshield tab. I also need to know the approx width of the garnish moulding so I can shoot for the middle to make the defroster opening in it.Sorry if i'm not making sense, the pain killers are screwing with me today! the only pics I have are of a '34 master 2dr sedan I tried to buy several years ago outside of town. The wood has almost all rotted from sitting out side since 1943. The dash apears to be down and in at the bottom.
Thanks Mike! Yes I'm putting metal where the wood use to be, that's the easy part I want to get the dash as close as possible to the orig placement. But knowing where there is room for the defrost vent is my current problem. I don't have the money right now for the garnish molding set (fiberglass from Superior Glass) and i'll still need to extend the winshield garnish (width). But I need to know all this before I can make my new gauge cluster set up. ( distance between insert and column)
Sammons.... I received the spears ,and again thanks a lot ........
