Title: Question about spare tire carrier
Post by: munch on November 25, 2013, 11:12:45 AM
Does anyone know if this type carrier will work on a Coach?  I need to figure something out for carrying a spare and desperately need some advice or ideas.

Thats pretty much like what I have. I'm going down there thanks giveing so I could bring it back if you think you can use it. Mine is a LOT nicer than that one.I also have 5 wheels that are in almost new condition. none of this stuff has been out of a building since 1959,and was on a restored antique 28 before that. If you google "1928 chevy wheels",there is a pic of a 4 door coach with the exact same carrier and wheels I have.

John,

Does your carrier fit on a Coach, that is what I am trying to figure out?  My 30 Coach is a hot rod so the spare will be an American Racing wheel, so I may need to adapt it somewhat.

Well, I did some more research and found a picture of a Coach tire carries, same as the others.  Since I am not mounting a stock wheel, about 19 or 20 inches I think, has anyone modified one to mount their mag wheel to?  Or, what have others used to mount a tire on the rear?

Thanks

All you would need to do is put a 3/16 x 4 cross piece on the face of the carrier (where the tail light mounts stock) and drill it for 2 lugs to line up with your wheel.Put some long 1/2" -20 bolts with threads out (to mount the wheel on) and weld them in on the back side.
