Title: 33 to 35 Chevy Tail Lights
Post by: TFoch on February 23, 2014, 07:46:15 PM
OK Chevy guys I have two different tail light housings.  One has an indentation for the chrome piece that goes over the license plate light hole.  The other does not.  Other than that the two seem the same.  My question is, is one for a Master and one for a Standard?

Tom, sorry for the lousy pics, but it's dark, not much room to get at the tail lights ( and any other excuses you can think of) but here's a couple of the unit on my '35 Standard.  I can see if I might be able to get some better pics tomorrow in daylight if these don't help.

Thanks for the pics.  That one seems to have the indentation for the chrome piece.  I'm going to use the two that I have like that.

It's a very minor indent Tom, as that chrome piece is very thin.

Yes but the tail light on the left up above have no indentation at all.

got an email out to a friend that is supposed to know more about the 33--36 era than me.

I note that the lamp pot without indent is stamped with EVELITE but yet the back  mounting area is also stamped with GUIDE.

I have never seen one of these, only the other type that accepts the triangle stainless cover.

let you know what I find out from my friend joe iaccino in arz. who specialsises in 33's

according to my friend Joe , his feelings and what he has seen over the years playing with Chevrolets , is the tail light pot *** without the stainless indent*** came on 1933 chevrolet STANDARD CC SERIES.  Joe has a 33 standard series sports coupe.

notice I am NOT using the word 1933 MERCURY SERIES , because there is no such thing.  No GM / Chevrolet advertising ever used that name and nobody knows why it keeps appearing in discussions of the 1933 standard.

the tail light pot with the stainless inset came originally on 1933 master series CA the deluxe version. It continued to be the primary tail light pot for 1934---master  and the 1934-1935 standard series.
