Source for one of these Oil Spray Guns?
« on: December 04, 2014, 06:08:57 PM »
Years ago when I worked in a garage we used to take the used motor oil and spray the underneath of the cars. We used guns like ones in the picture below....it is a vintage unit I spotted on eBay. Don't want an antique but would like to find one.

Have any ideas?

Great for spraying parking brake cables, fuel and brake lines etc.

Wow, I have one just like that. Use to have the larger Sure Shot sprayer. I use them for solvent and engine degeasing.

Sure Shot and Vaper sprayers go for $30-40. The little Sure Shot (more like your pic) goes for $80-90

Zep has one also.

I'll check them out...

FYI: they are asking about $125 on eBay for those old ones...

Looking at the Sure Shot units....are they pressurized or use an inline air source?

Ed the 32oz sure shots have a valve stem on top (like airing up a tire) they last quite a while per charge. The small 24oz job, I believe may be inline air.

Nope, just looked it up. They both are valve stem type, says up to 200psi

Thanks for the offer...prefer the inline version and if HF has them as "vette59jdwl" indicates I'll grab one from them.

Thanks guys..

Why would you spray the underside of a car with oil? I would think that would make a gummy mess over time.

Ghost, I'm trying to think of what you would use one for, now.
My guess is they sprayed oil under the car thinking it would seal or protect against salt and moisture.
I worked in a gad station for 20 years and never saw one, of course I  bet there's alot I have never seen.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Chopper you were a gas jock to. I got a job our local  Mobil full sevice station when I was in 8th grade, quit in '78 to work for dad. Loved that job!. We had that old one Ed had pictured, we used solvent in it to degrease things (like rear tranny seals, wheel seals) and to clean the bay floors every night. We relaced it with the 32oz Sure Shot, they gave me the old one. That's the one I have now, somewhere.
