My Great Grandfather's Headlight
« on: May 02, 2014, 08:09:56 PM »
Had this hanging on our porch.  Had to take it down as we are remodeling.  It was from my great grandfather's  garage.  I talked to my Dad and he said when he was a kid he used to take it when he went fishing.  I remember going to visit my great grandfather and going out back to his garage.  Kind of small with all kinds of stuff hanging in it.  I guess this was one of them.  Going to clean it up and hang it in my garage.  That's where it belongs.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Wow Tom...That thing is cool and it looks like it's in perfect condition. I wonder how old it is and what it came off of.

Not sure what it came off of but my Dad said it was painted black when he got it.  He removed the paint and got it down to the brass.

That is really sharp. I wonder if it was automotive or used on a pole for old town lamp lighting. I notice it has a rear door for lighting, and a wick extender. Real nice Tom.

It looks very similar to the old carriage lamps.
