I don't want carpeting in my 33 coupe and would like to insulate the aluminum diamond plate floors from the bottom. There is plenty of frame work under the floor for cross support etc, but looking for insulating techniques/suggestions from the bottom.
Probably will be using "cleared" diamond plate for the door cards also, that way I can bolt the Saturn window cranks right to the door cards for a solid support.

Ed, i've used a product called Total Coat (Chemicar co.) since about 2005. At the time they had several types, regular undercoat, sound control, etc. On my coupe i used "premium sound control" a waterbase plastic type polimer, so clean up was easy. Works really well on taking that tinny sound out to a dull thud when tapped.
I'm sure many products are similar or same, Lizardskin comes to mind.

Ed, its got a mind of its own. Cheap POS, pic was taken right side up. Preveiw, right side up, gallery upside down🤯 It did the same thing couple days ago, some days auto rotate screen works, next it don't.
I already put the stuff back up when i discovered it had flipped after it hit gallery😡 Sorry man!

I think there is a "command" that you can hit on these computer key boards that flips the screen (seriously).
Maybe you just stand on your head to fool the phone ;D ;D (not seriously)

Although I have never used it, I hear good reviews on a product called Lizard Skin. Might be worth looking in to.

Was thinking about laying down a sheet of that silver insulation material. Have enough floor framing to support a thin layer of silver insulation sheeting? Maybe could also use something like Lizard Skin as an adhesive and insulator?

I don't really know how well lizzard skin would work as to adhear the insultaion up. It would stick well to aluminum and foil also. The bond? Try some and see i guess.

There is plenty of rectangular tubing under the floor from one side to the other, so if I laid insulation sheets down then the floor on top - shouldn't have a problem with it falling down. This stuff from Lowes feels like a plastic bubble wrap...not sure about how it would do with heat from the exhaust system? Muffler is about 8" from floor, pipes about 10"

I, personally would be hesitant to use that underneath. Heat may be a factor as well as potential rips and moisture between the floor and foil. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the response...my plan is to have aluminum diamond plate floors inside the car...in other words I want aluminum floors...no carpeting. Any insulation needs to be under the aluminum floors.
