My Tip for the day..
« on: May 05, 2016, 03:45:01 PM »
Just a reminder...check your fuel lines for aging hardness that could break or leak.  Noticed my carb feed line was a little wet and after trying to tighten the clamp...it still leaked. The fuel line was so hard I could break it in half...for $1.07 I now have a flexible fuel line again...and piece of mind driving down the road ;)

Great advice.  No need to have to empty that new fire extinguisher ;D
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Make sure you replace it with fuel line that is compatible with ethanol

Very good point...A friend of mine changed the line going to the quadrajet on his 69 GTO and a week later on the way to work someone pulled up along side him on the highway and started pointing frantically at his front wheel area. He started slowing down to see what was going on when he saw the flames shoot up by the driver window. By the time he got off to the side of the highway he had to jump over to the passenger side to get out and all he could do at that point was watch his car burn to the ground.
Too soon we get old too late we get smart. One out of two ain’t bad 8)

I would just hate to hear of a car fire because the hard fuel line cracked from vibration (RE: ethanol) & could have been avoided for under $2 in most cases. Something we didn't have to deal with years ago.
