Wouldn't that same logic apply to just about any appliance manufactured today. Most now have some form of computer control. It would mean that no independent could make repairs to these items. Can you imagine impact on the economy. The idea that tampering with the computer program of the modern vehicle by someone who doesn't have the proper knowledge or experience is more dangerous than someone who is not experienced in brake replacement or front end /steering repair is ridiculous. The factories have been trying to eliminate the independent part manufactures and repair business for years without success with this being their latest attempt. I'm sure that once the real impact of imposing such limitations is realized this too will go down in flames. Time to contact your representatives and get them up to speed.

At a time when the US Government claims that the greatest threat to the world is "Climate Change"(no matter what change) and we are all urged to recycle, it is strange that we would be blocked from recycling old cars. The climate damage is already done for these cars and in their remaining life they will never put out the emissions involved in making a replacement. In this area you must pay to get rid of your "waste" But Waste Management will not take hazardous materials including electronic equipment. So it gets dumped in the desert. Pick and Pull will buy your old cars even if the trunk is full of cans of paint, tires, and old computers. :o

I do not realy like to get in on this rant BUT the rich get richer and the poor guy just squeals louder
Have any or you guys ever heard of BUD.Well Bud had a small deer hunting camp back in the woods about 1000 yards off of the country road.Bud decided he was going to spruce the place up,so he called HYDRO (big mistake). They said the pole out by the highway was 40 years old and rotten was on county property, that had to be replaced to put a transformer on it ,that was going to cost BUD 2500 bucks..Then Bud was going to have to get in a backhowe and dig a trench to put the wire in the conduit,That ran about 20ft x $30 divided into 3000 ft for 1,000 Plus the aluminum underground triplex $3000 bucks in cable .That is not counting the cost of the backhowe and 6 inches of sand over the conduit that must be 42 inches deep. At least two yards of sand $200 bucks. Now 10 feet of PVC pipe to a meter base $230 bucks. 100 amp service panel on the inside.Plus all the recipticals and the wire to hook everything required for minimum stardards of CEC.that was $3500 bucks.plus a permit $200 bucks. Now BUD needs an electrician at a minimum of 35 bucks an hour. You do the math Sorry guys they have us by the Short & Curlies. vette59jdwl

I think buying a larger diesel generator to power the camp would be the way to go to avoid having to deal with government HAIRBALLS

Madmike3434 Even with a power Generator They classify it as a living area or acomodations and at that point you have to abide by the building code which includes washer and dryer plugs and coded ground recepticles in the kitchen are. I Know i know how do you argue with the establishment. Its the big guy making thye law to suit him not you vette59jdwl

I have been so lucky to have found this property over 40 years ago. My building permit was $9 and the inspector didn't have a vehicle that could get here. It's a lot different now but I'm "grandfathered" in on most new regulations. I don't make waves and they just treat me like a crazy old mountain man with a reputation of being OK unless being messed with. The people in the valley tell each other stories about the old hermit that will shoot you if you go up there. I let them believe it. We make our own power, the water comes from springs, I haul the garbage and keep the septic going. You can not see my place unless you are trespassing and I don't ask anyone's permission to do anything. I found this arrow head today while I was patching a water tank.

sixball. You are living the life, hold on to it, and your reputation with the locals.
I see this attempt to limit new car owners from working on there cars more of an avenue to keep from sharing the new computer tech with anyone. No matter what they try to do, someone will always break down and modify there programs somehow.

That's why I drive old stuff, with exception to my'98 Ram(and that's because my buddy give it to me). I just like my carburators, distributors and mechanical stuff. I understand and can make it work. ;D
Sixball, i've never found one of those. I seem to walk right over them and who ever is behind me say's"you just walked over another" >:(
The small town I live in has no building inspector, just a guy that writes you up if you don't mow or leave a tire out side the garage. ::) just a$5 building permit to let the county know to tax your butt. Outside city limits falls on Ford Co.and you have to pay all the higher prices and inspection hoops.

It used to be the good ole country life not anymore, they are always coming up with a new way to get their hands in your pockets. A permit for anything you do.

Here in NY the Liberals have just about completely destroyed the state...they only know how to create more laws and taxes.
Our new state motto is: "If it's Fun..it's illegal in New York"

Our dictator went to Cuba to visit their dictator and found a 56 Chevy with a Toyota engine:

The mother of invention? I guess if we were there our builds would look different and be more purposeful. I can not blame them for trying but I can blame our government for befriending the brothers that make these trips the best bet Cubans have.
