I was wondering if any of you guys know what the wheelbase measurements are for a short, and long wheelbase 1939 or 40 chevy truck. I am thinking about making the 40 truck I am working on a short wheelbase, and I am not sure they got the stock long wheelbase correct with the new suspension components. :-\

Ghost I've looked at some factory spec sheets I have and only show the 1/2 ton at 113 1/2" long and a 3/4 ton at 123 3/4" long no short wheel base listed. ???

That's what I needed. The 1/2 ton is the short wheel base. I am gonna cut 10 1/4 inches out of this truck frame. Wish me luck.

62131 I thought that all the chevy frames for 1932 were the same except for the pheatons and coaches. I also thought that the truck was an add on rear section on either a coupe or a roadster. I have a 32 chevy roadster sitting beside the barn.What measurments would you like.And keep this is mind that a DODGE D50 6 bolt rear will bolt right in and any chevy truck i believe up to 1955 with hydralic brakes will bolt right in all you need is a master cylinder from a drum drum car or truck like a 65 mustang as an example.Then you could run the Silverado wheels or the 32 wire wheels as ldong as you did not apply to much power and twist the wire wheels. I do have a heavy duty set of Cadillac wire wheels that i am trying to adapt to six bolt lol lol vette59jdwl

I really don't need any measurements now, I was looking for frame dimensions a 1-1/2 -2 years ago when I started this project. It took awhile to find someone that could give me what I needed, that's how I ended up here. The guy I bought my car from had installed a pinto cross member under the car and cut the frame up to do it, I was looking for the measurements to put it back together so I could do a Mustang II style frontend.

62131, that sounds like me 3yrs ago looking for some help on '34 5-window body/frame dimension's. I wish I had known about this site back then. :D

Naw. Taking the 10-1/4 out will give me the 113-1/2 inch wheel base the 1/2 tons came from the factory with. I am sure more 3/4 tons were made because of being trucks, and the way they were used then and now, but the 1/2 ton is a shorter better looking truck for this year, and makes a better looking hot rod. Just my opinion, no offence if someone has a long wheel base truck.

Ghost28 I have been to many a car / truck show and have never seen a long wheel base old truck till today enclosed find pics and he did a fine job even has a 300 cu,in ford and 4 speed stick on the floor vette 59jdwl

Thanks Vette. Your right that's a great looking truck. I wonder if it was made from a sedan because of the stretched look of the cab? What was the make of the truck? I couldn't figure it out.

The grille shell is a Studebaker somewhere around 1931-1932

Ok seeing this thread is dead i will add pics here now remember these are all my choices there were a ton of 55 56 57 chevys and a ton and a half of mustangs not my thing
