Title: Plasma Cutter Opinions
Post by: EDNY on September 30, 2014, 02:13:28 PM
Getting serious about picking up plasma cutter. Used the MILLER SPECTRUM 375 X-TREME PLASMA CUTTER and really liked it.  My TIG and MIG are both Millers.

Been seeing great deals on the Eastwood Versa Cut 40 amp and 60 amp plasma cutters.

The Miller 375 is dual voltage 110/220 and will cut 3/8”

The Eastwood 60 is single voltage 220v and will cut 7/8”

The Eastwood 40 is dual voltage 110/220 and will cut 3/8”

Considering the Eastwood 40 for these reasons: dual voltage 110 or 220volt, 3/8” cut is sufficient for my needs, less expensive than the Eastwood 60 and more than half the price of the Miller.

Any opinions…?

I personally lean towards anything Miller. I have a thermal dynamics 110 to 220 that changes automatically just by twisting the old plug out and twisting in the other choice. I believe this unit is made by miller and I have forced it to cut close to half inch plate. You don't have to hold the cutting torch off the surface  just drag it alongat the sped that is comfortable for the thickness of metal. I believe I got mine for around $900.00 and don't know how I ever got along without it.
