Dugeman, everything I'm seeing shows the grille silver. So now, is it chrome or SS? Have your friend put a magnet on it, if it sticks, there's your answer. My guess is it is chrome.
Did you go to ATCO on Sunday? I did not. It was my mother-in-law's  birthday. I had to make a choice, spend the day with my mother-in-law or the night on the sofa :o
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Thanks Chopper , never thought of the magnet . I did go to Atco . Weather was great  , about 150 racers and another 150 cars in the show. I even got lucky and picked up a trophy. I say lucky because the car number they gave me was my wife's birth  date.

Dugeman  My guess it is chrome plated steel, they were also made out stainless, I have seen both. One on a car another at a show the guy was asking $1200.00 I wouldn't think some one would paint that. As mentioned the magnet is not a sure thing as some stainless has carbon in it so that it can be hardened.

Congratulations!!! That's great. Maybe I will catch up with you at the spring show.
