Used a roof from a 1954 2dr sedan Chevy to make an insert for my 33 Chevy (5) window coupe. Coupe is chopped 2-1/2". The 54 Chevy inside roof support bow can easily be worked in.

Metal thickness is the same and contour fit very nice.

I wonder if it would be the same on a 33 master 3 window? I have heard guy's using 66 mustang roofs turned backwards. The good news is they reproduce those and I can pick one up at mustangs unlimited here in CT (manchester). I may go this rout.

Don't see why it wouldn't work, also heard guys using Camaro roofs backwards.  I positioned the 54 Chevy roof in each direction and it fit best with the front to the front.  Also read where the 55-57 Chevy roof was a good fit...but I can't see anyone cutting one of them up. That's why I tried the 54....at first thought it was too arched...but it really lays down nicely and it's the same thickness as the 33 (and there are a lot more out there with roofs intact).

Nothing was said in the text as to what the metal parts are on the outside and inside or the roof panel.  It appears they are some kind of spacers. 

Could explain how these are in use.?

You can buy those at Harbor Freight I think they come in sets of six, very reasonably priced.

Yup! A set of 8 at Harbor freight cost me $8.00. Eastwood carries a set of 4 for $20.00
