Looking for early 30s 194 engine
« on: December 03, 2014, 10:49:22 AM »
Hey all.. New to the Rusty Bowtie.
Thanks for having me.
I am in the process of looking for a 194 for my 31 Independance.
I recently spun a bearing a messed up all sorts of business in my original motor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey Grease, welcome aboard!! Can't help with the 194, but don't be surprized, someone here might.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Welcome! I recently saw one somewhere. I'll ask at the next meeting of my Inliner group but that won't be until January. Here is a thread on the HAMB you could post on. I have a '29 short block but has been outside for years. Let us know if you find one. Good luck.

Thanks guys...
Yah I posted to the Hamb as well.
Ended up spinning a bearing on my crank and it jacked up all sorts of business in the engine....
I ended up buying a 216 out of a 39 thinking it would bolt up to my original transmission but as you probably already know the bell
housing bolt pattern is completely different.
Thanks for asking in your In line group @sixball.

Or where I can find a new crank and bearings...?
And maybe just rebuild what I already have.

Welcome to The Rusty Bowtie....Have you posted on the VCCA Chat site. I've had great luck with selling and finding early Chevy parts there. Here's a link if you don't already have it.

That might work.
What's the motor mount pattern on it. ? 1 up front and 2 on the bell housing ?
Where are you located ?
