Title: 1929 windsheild post aluminum or pot metal
Post by: Chevyv8-348 on May 03, 2013, 11:20:43 AM
Hi everybody, new to Rusty Bowtie.  I stumbled across this while looking for any info on how these go together and such.  I noticed in my box of chevy puzzle peices that one of my windsheild posts is cracked and I can't tell if it's pot metal or aluminum?  I'm missing the upper broken half of the otherside so I'll have to see about making it using the other as a reference.  Does anybody reproduce them by chance?  Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the site. Is it for a 29 Roadster? The ones for my 33 Cabriolet are pot metal and no one reproduces them.  I'm not sure about a 29 though.

I can't help much with your windshield post but would still like to welcome you to the site.

I wish it was roadster but it's a 4dr sedan and thinking about making a 2dr sedan delivery out of it.

Sounds like a cool project. Post some pictures when you get a chance.
Check out "My Old 27 Chevy" in the Early Chevy/GM Discussion section.  Ghost28 (John) made a Sedan Delivery out of a sedan.

Welcome to the forum...should we assume you have a W engine?  I have a 348 in the shop for boring right now.

It's an out side covering to shield the wood and they are pot metal. I had a set, but I let them go with the basket case 29 3 window coupe I had. I believe they are 29 specific, and I am not sure if they are being reproduced, but if anyone has them it would be the filling station. They have a ton of old chevy stuff. I like the sedan delivery concept you are shooting for. I have made two of them from chevy sedans.

I have a couple 348's.  One in my 58 Belair and in my 58 Brookwood wagon.  I want to put one in the 29 but funds are tight due to house remodel going on but got a 283 that will probably be what going in it.  I also been reading Ghost's build up on the HAMB.  Since I'll be replacing all the wood with steel so I may just try making some replica sheetmetal posts with my homemade beadroller.  Maybe work a slight chop into it at the same time.  Still all in planning stages right now.

Hi, check with Gary Wallace.

www.20schevyparts.com

I  may try to make some, but need good originals (never replated - pitted OK) to use for specs.

These would be returned , unharmed.
