From what I know the axle needs to be bent cold. I think your best bet would be to go to a shop that can do heavy truck repair and alignment. They should be able to tell you if it can be bent into shape and if there's enough meat to allow you to bore it out for the bigger pins.

Hey Ray I think I have an article you can have about using the brakes you are talking about. Scott with the two older chevies from here in Aurora have done both his that way. and he is using a large truck axle. I am really glad you are working on your car.

For $600 + shipping you can get a bolt on to spindle disc brake kit like mine

I used a dropped axel from speedway that was for a early 50s Chevy truck.
Had to use truck spindles. The camber is way off if you try to use car spindles. I suspect this is what your running into.

Check out my build . Used Speedway Fordged '54 Spindles . I think they also change the geometry a bit to solve the camber problem but I still had to have my axle bent/aligned .
32Chev. Where did your kit come from ?

Thanks , guys..... appreciate the info.
With the car (54) spindles , the chamber is way off, will probably use the dropped tube axle set up for these brakes.

I picked my kit up from ECI in CT. Here is a link, http://www.ecihotrodbrakes.com/early_chevy_discbrake_conversions.html
I paid $600, and they bolted onto the original spindles.

I got the same kit, did you have any issues getting the spacer on? Had to take mine to a friend, heat and a hyd press and finally got it done.

I didn't use any heat, just some emery cloth.... a mallet and a pipe with id to clear spindle od. Its was tight
