We had an 8N with a Funk conversion to a Ford flathead 6. As far as a tractor I don't think an 8N could be improved much above that. Now fun is a different deal. ::) Funk made one for the flathead V8 too. Since they started wit a 24hp four I'm sure any of those engines has enough poop to turn the trans and rear end into a pile of toothless junk. I saw one with a blown flathead V8 once at a tractor pull. It was fun to watch. A Graham supercharger on the stock four would be cool. 8)

I have seen flat-head conversions.. thought they were a direct bell-housing pattern fit?(Ford to Ford)

They are not the same pattern but the '42 to '53 Flathead 6 was the same pattern and the V8. and the four cylinder is the frame. The front axle bolts to the front of the engine. A greatly overlooked Ford engine is the overhead four used in the Post 8N Jubilee/800 series.
