When we bought my wife's new Trail Rated Grand Cherokee in 2014 we also spent a few thousand for a lifetime warranty. Turns out it was a good deal. All repairs other than normal wear are covered at $100 a issue for as long as we own the car or until the day when the repair is more costly than the value of the car.  They no longer offer this. I'm figuring to keep it until they won't fix it anymore. I can pay for new paint and upholstery and little stuff for a lot less than a new one with a warranty that is timed in Jeep's favor. Think trans, transfer case, several software issues that took days to find, a couple of sets of suspension bushings....... :)
