Each year my legs hurt more and more (age).....which work boots do you guys use?  My legs are really bugging me lately. I have fiberglass toe (not metal) safety work boots now.

I wear a steel toe boot made by company named Schmitt, they are a comfortable boot but only last about a year before they start to break down in the arch, the sole seams to wear well. After I wear them to the point my knees and legs start to hurt I get a new pair. I have had Redwings, Wolverines but they don't seem to last any longer at least for the cost difference. This time I'm going to try a new pair from Honeywell can't remember the name right now.

Ed...I'm on my second pair of Thorogood boots. A friend of mine works for the power company here in Connecticut and they recommend these boots for their guys because they have a non-metallic safety toe and can insulate some pretty high KV. They have replaceable inner cushions and are the most comfortable boots I've ever had plus they ware like iron.

Good thread. I have never found a shoe that is comfortable all the time, but after I replaced both knees my legs feel a lot better. HEHE

The name of my boots is "Thunderstruck" - shades of AC/DC - and I got them just over two years ago.  They have a steel shank in the bottom, plus the steel toe which is covered by some sort of very tough and hard rubber.  They are still just like new.

When I went looking for work boots, I tried on many different kinds and settled on these based on the comfort level.  I hate boots that hurt you anywhere.  It just makes for a miserable day.  FWIW I always use a heavy wool work sock (not synthetic) in my boots.

As for the legs hurting, I agree with you that advancing age is a big contributor.  Lately I have been getting several different feeds in from a variety of health type websites, and it seems that our diet is the main cause of most of our health problems.  You might find that your circulation is starting to fail somewhat (as mine is) and that most definitely makes the legs hurt after a day of work.  I also have arthritis in my right knee particularly, and that's a real bugger at the end of the day.

Im no help here, i wear Doc Martins, and havnt worn a steel toed work boot for many years. You guys have an advantage of good American quality made boots. We get flooded with a lot of Chinese stuff.

My boots are actually made in China, and as much as it pains me to say it, they are about the nicest work boots I've ever owned.

Just as an update..I bought a pair of these boots..but after about 3 months the stitching on the left boot pulled the material apart.  The company http://weinbrennerusa.com/ has been giving me the run around and have poor customer service.  Obviously no warranty..so I'll never buy another pair.

Bad part is that I really liked them....

I have worn cowboy boots all my life. The steel shank and high arch are good. You've got to pick the right heal for a lot of walking. The last pair of Tony Lamas I got were made in China. Repeat the last pair. The most comfortable boots I've ever owned are Whites packers, sort of a lace up cowboy boot. They are a pain to get on and off. Danner hunting boots are great. I mashed a steel toe so flat I was barely able to get it off. It would have been bad without it.

Don't get me going on the subject of shoes..Last summer I bought a pair of sneakers that I use when I mow the lawn. I used to get a pair at Walmart every year for 15.00 and they would last me the whole season. Last year I decided I would get something a little better so I went to the local shoe store and ended up paying 85.00 for a pair of sneakers that were supposed to really support your foot for better comfort  and keep your feet cool and comfortable on those hot summer days. After one mowing session the sides of both shoes cracked. Went back and got a different brand of a "better" shoe at no additional charge. After two mowings the sole separated from toe area on both shoes. Got my money back and went to Walmart and paid 15.00 and they lasted all season.

  Ain't that the truth MOOSE and we complain complain complain about good old wallmart I just got so pissed about a HP printer trying to tell me what i could and could not doo with this computer  It was like the dame printer controlled the computer  I finally had it and took it back  got a voucher to spend at wallmart gave it to the wife for groceries  then went home and got my old 29 dollar canon bjc printer out washed out the cartridge and replaced the ink and fired it up a 15 year old dried up canon printer and it works like new  dame tecnoladgy   vette58jdwl
