1932 coupe dimensions
« on: December 06, 2013, 02:21:22 PM »
On the hamb a few guys have asked me for measurements. Mine may not be original but work for the parts that I have. Moose's car hasn't suffered from the complete disaster of time and water so his would be as close to stock as you might find. I suspect he would take measurements as requested.

Does anyone have a factory diagram of dimensions on the body?

Well here are a few that were needed.

It seems a lot of us have the same question of where to start, so I hope this will be a good resource.

I have the complete 1932 Fisher Body manual. There is not one dimension given in the whole publication. They only talk about how the sections of the body fit together and diagram all of the wood components. They seem to stress that each component has to be adjusted until  everything comes together for a proper fit and assumes you're using wood that was pre-cut from the factory. That's pretty much how I did my body adjustments. I kept tweeking things until everything fit together properly . The body to frame shimming was important in order to get the door openings to be square and have the correct spacing. If anyone needs more specific measurements I can get them but you'll have to bare with me because I've already put it in storage and covered it up for the winter. If anyone needs something copied from the fisher manual so see what a component looks like let me know.

Just to add to what Moose has said; they may not have specific measurements published because with the technology used 8o years ago they knew there was little chance that any two cars were going to fit together within the exact same tolerances, hence there are only references that everything needs to be adjusted for a proper fit. Remember Fisher built carriages before cars ;)
