This is my response to trbomax;
My 1930 Chevy 2 door sedan was sitting way too tall,with original front tires and rims,also with the original springs that run laterally with the frame rails.
I didn't have the money to buy a Ford style dropped front end,so after removing the stock mechanical drum brakes,I held my breath and cut off the front spindles with a sawsall. Grind the stumps flat with a high speed flap disc. You now have the steering assembly left with two holes on top and two on bottom,that the brake assembly was bolted to.
I made up two (1 for drivers side,1 for pass.) 4inx6in x1/2 in pieces of mild flat steel,mark EXACTLY where those 4 holes will be PRECISELY drilled out with the same diameter as the holes.
These 4 holes will be towards the top of the plate,now mark the plate where the spindle stump is hitting it and drill a big hole in it ,so the plate sits vertical.
Here's the neat part,locate a pair of 1970 American Motors bolt on front spindles,I took mine from a Javelin with drum brakes,remove the brake assembly( if you want),and line up the 4 bolt holes about 2 1/2 inches lower on your steel plate and again drill EXACTLY where the bolt on spindles should go.
Measure the length bolts you will need,and buy hardened steel nuts,bolts,flat and lock washers.I ended up using pipe nipples,After I cut the length to fit,to slide over the 4 bolts(to use as spacers).
You now have a 2 1/2 inch dropped original Chevy front axle.I also removed about 1/2 of my leaf springs on each side,and have 15 in rims.
Almost forgot-be sure to get hubs with Javelin spindles. Also I think 1962 ford falcons had bolt ons. Go online and look up Scare Bird .com, they are based in California, and make disc brake conversion kits for AMC,and many others.
By the way, I'm using original steering thru out,there is no bump steer at all ,car handles like a go cart! Bottom of front axle is only 4 inches from pavement , so I need to watch the road,but makes for a mean stance! I'll try to get pictures on here. Wayne

I have about 6 k miles in 2 seasons of putting around in upstate N.Y. with this set up. It passes ALL N.Y.S. inspections with no questions asked. Car weighs in at 2600 lbs.---1220 lbs steer /1380 drive axle at nearby TA truckstop CAT scale.(scale ticket in hand as I'm typing this).
Until several years ago, I was a self employed cross country owner operator tractor trailer driver, pulling multi million dollar, covered wagon loads with my W900L Kenworth ,prior to that tractor,was my Freightliner Show Truck,that I traded in at 1,001008. miles.
I've driven 3.9 million big truck miles in my career,and have seen more gory wrecks than I care to remember.
So not to bust balls either,I think my car that I built in my VERY small 2 car garage,with no more car building experience than the dream that's been emblazoned in my mind for over 40 years,is very safe.
My brand new tires still look brand new, drives straight down the road,no bounce,and stops on a dime. This car is my passion ,and yes, I DO take offense when somebody who doesn't know my integrity puts my car down! Wayne.

Woah!No need to get defensive,if it bothers you that much I'll pull my responce down. Sorry,was just talking about it.
I guess my plan will be to machine/fabricate a jig/fixture that will allow me to heat and reshape my axel to
an acceptable level of integraty and saftey.

Wayne why did you not just drop a 58 or 59 chevy truck straight axle under your old chevy and end up with hydraulic brakes just wondering vette59jdwl

Honestly,wanted to keep using as much original parts (kind of) that I had right in front of me.In fact my car still has the original wooden floor,and doors. Notice my handle, Lowbuckhr ,hr stands for hot rod!

I have A LOT of pics of this build,before,during,and af. Wait a minute,there is no after,'cause its' never gonna be done!
Next week, I plan on pulling the engine/trans out,adding some horse power stuff,(aluminum heads, to replace my 186 camel humps,bigger cam,lifters,rods,roller rockers,higher cr pistons,and,OH Yeah,I'm going with the Weiand tunnel ram with 1405 eddy's. Trannys getting rebuilt to handle 600hp. New stall convertor.
Some kids never grow up!

We are building or have built some of us here have built sold and are building again even as young as we are ,me 69 years young . By the way moose the 32 chevy deluxe roadster sold the other day for 30 thousand not to shabby. I know build another ???? PS don't say that to loud. I have another in the shed attached to the barn lol lol

Gee doc,I swear it's a disease,I can't stop! It's not in any of your medical books! My wife doesn't know me any more,I can't explain where all our money went! All I hear is- YOU'RE ALWAYS OUT IN THAT DAMNED GARAGE! MY neighbors hate me,my co-workers think I'm obsessed. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

Well i never thought that i was obsessed and i didn't think it was a disease so that's It ..I guess i am hooked as well .I will have to explain this to the wife and see what she has to say. ???? Maybe that's what is wrong with me to?????.If you find a remedy for this disease please let me know.
Now i need to know the firing order for a 1925 four banger and also the carb settings please. I cranked this thing till the battery died and still no fire need to get running.This is a 1925 4 door with the hardtop roof but it has the laundeau bars at the back corners on both sides. I will have pics up in a few days. Also this thing is like NEW and i mean NEW anyone please send answers to lave@cogeco.ca thanks
