Title: strapworks.com Need Strap Supplies?
Post by: EDNY on January 08, 2014, 01:49:14 PM
We had a good discusson about hood straps etc started by "munch".  Since then I came across this site for strap material and supplies...

Have a feeling I may be sewing up a set of "colorful"  mini hood straps for my 34 coupe! ::)

That is the ticket Ed, I see we definitely got the juices flowing.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.  You might have to take orders.

That outfit even makes custom graphic on the straps, so I could actually have "Chevrolet" or just about any design on the strap. Since they already make the "Hot Rod" design...might go with that one.

That a good ideal using nylon strapping.

Only problem I see is that it will wear the paint off in about a month of driveing. OK if its never driven.

Wouldn't touch the paint using Footman Loops, there would be (4) short loops, (2) on each side, looped from inside the hood, to the inner fender seam via footman loops.

Yes the (2) long style would wrap completely over the top of the hood and wear down the paint, the (4) strap system actually replaces the engine side panels.

Ed

Like the picture below, but without side panels, and the footman loops would be out of site on the inner hood hinge.

I used nylon straps to replace the tail gate chains on my '53 pickup. They were red and faded to pink in a year. Probably cheap crap from a dog leash. As a quick fix I sprayed them black and they still look good two tears later. Quick is not the same for all. I plan to use straps on my '26 roadster  but they'll be full length leather. It'll just go better with the style of the build and be a pain. ;D
