Hopefully I'll be tearing into the 32 next month.
When I do the steel, im gonna remove the rear floor and convert to modern shocks and also new leafspring's.
Let's see your rear shock set ups ?

Tfoch , are those custom length shocks OR from a camaro or something ?
I may try camaro shocks since I have camaro brakes. Plus I can measure off my dad's car.
Gonna use air shocks cause the teardrop trailer.

They came with the leaf spring kit I got from Posie's.

Now that the leafspring's are done, I've been looking at shocks.
Trying to go with something O.E. . For future replacement.
1980 Malibu rear air shocks seem to fit the bill in weight and wheelbase. Plus was trying to stay away from the (stud) type shocks.
I may have to order a upper shock mount bar.
A few details to work out before ordering.

I forgot how fast Summit is. Ordered the shocks yesterday and they had em to me at 2 p.m. today.

Mocking up the shocks today.
Is there any downsides to mounting them in Front of the axle ???
I can mount them behind it but there's way more room up front.
The mounts should be here soon.

I don't believe it makes much difference. I've seen stock locations be behind, above and forward of axle. 57 Chevy, C2-C3 Vettes are forward. Hell 2nd gen Camaro was rear on left, forward on the right ;D (was suppose to help control wheel hop) ;)

They'll probably be in front then if there isn't any issues.

I need to fit this cross member into the framerails tightly.
Is there any tricks to getting this 2" square tube in without cutting it too short ???
I had this problem putting in the engine mount bar and I did cut a bit short but was able to weld in a flat plate spacer. Would like to avoid that again.

Measure twice. lol If I need a really tight fit that has to be right, I always grab a cheap stick of conduit. Measure, double check and cut the conduit and test fit. If all good I use it as a pattern for the real deal expensive part ;D

Im usually triple checking myself if not more.
I was referring to getting it between the c-channels since my frame isn't boxed yet.
Getting it in there diagonally and I guess beat it until it pops in. Right ?

Yep, pretty much. I would just bend the leading/trailing end of those mount tabs in. Start in place, smack it in then vise grip ("C" clamp) the tabs back straight, and hammer chissel/punch on it (while still clamped) to put the "set" back in it.
That frame should have enough flex for the bar to go in. (If it's not close to a crossmember there).
